Employee Relations & Performance Management Specialist (Temp-to-Perm)

Location: New York, NY

Schedule: Full-Time, Onsite (Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM)

Compensation: $38-42/hour, based on experience

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Employee Relations & Performance Management Specialist to support a dynamic HR team in New York, NY. This role will be responsible for managing employee relations matters, conducting workplace investigations, supporting performance management initiatives, and promoting a positive employee experience. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in people operations, employee engagement, and conflict resolution, with the ability to partner effectively with managers and employees at all levels of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted HR resource for employee relations matters, providing guidance on workplace concerns and policy interpretation.

  • Conduct employee investigations involving performance issues, workplace complaints, policy violations, and employee misconduct.

  • Partner with managers to address performance concerns, develop improvement plans, and support corrective action processes.

  • Advise leadership on best practices related to employee engagement, retention, and organizational culture.

  • Facilitate conflict resolution and support positive employee outcomes while mitigating organizational risk.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, employment laws, and HR best practices.

  • Maintain accurate documentation related to investigations, performance management, and employee relations activities.

  • Collaborate with HR leadership on employee engagement initiatives and culture-building programs.

  • Support onboarding, employee communications, and other people and culture initiatives as needed.

  • Assist with HR reporting and employee data management.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in:

  • Employee Relations

  • Employee Investigations

  • Performance Management

  • People & Culture / Employee Experience

  • Strong knowledge of employment laws, HR policies, and best practices.

  • Demonstrated experience conducting workplace investigations and managing sensitive employee issues.

  • Excellent conflict resolution, coaching, and interpersonal skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion.

  • Ability to work full-time onsite in New York, NY.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Paycom preferred but not required.

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

  • HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, or similar) is a plus.

  • Experience supporting fast-paced corporate or professional services environments.
