A bit about us:

Our client is seeking an experienced Commercial Litigation Attorney for an approximately 3-month contract engagement. The ideal candidate will have at least six years of litigation experience and be comfortable independently managing sophisticated commercial litigation matters in both state and federal courts.

Experience handling labor and employment litigation is strongly preferred; however, candidates with substantial commercial litigation experience will also be considered.

Job Details

Responsibilities

  • Manage commercial litigation matters from inception through trial preparation.
  • Draft and respond to initial disclosures and written discovery.
  • Prepare deposition notices and coordinate scheduling.
  • Develop comprehensive deposition outlines.
  • Take and defend fact and corporate representative depositions.
  • Evaluate discovery responses and formulate litigation strategy.
  • Draft protective orders and related pleadings.
  • Prepare motions, including motions for summary judgment and other dispositive motions.
  • Prepare removal pleadings for matters proceeding to federal court.
  • Draft corporate disclosure statements and federal court filings.
  • Participate in pretrial conferences and trial preparation.
  • Conduct legal research and draft persuasive briefs and memoranda.
  • Advise clients regarding litigation strategy and case developments.
  • Manage multiple active litigation matters with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

  • J.D. from an accredited law school.
  • Active license in good standing.
  • Minimum 6 years of commercial litigation experience.
  • Significant experience practicing in both state and federal courts.
  • Strong command of civil procedure and local court rules.
  • Experience independently taking depositions.
  • Demonstrated success handling discovery and dispositive motions.
  • Excellent legal writing and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced litigation environment.

  • Labor & Employment litigation experience.
  • Employment law counseling.
  • Contract disputes.
  • Business tort litigation.
  • Trial preparation experience.
