Job Details

Our client is seeking an experienced Employment Counsel or Partner to join its growing management-side Employment Practice. This opportunity is ideal for an attorney who has developed trusted client relationships and is looking for a collaborative platform to continue growing a sophisticated employment practice.

The ideal candidate will have significant experience counseling employers on the full spectrum of employment law issues, serving as outside employment counsel and providing practical, business-focused advice. While the practice includes supporting clients through disputes when necessary, the primary emphasis is proactive counseling, compliance, workforce strategy, and risk mitigation rather than high-volume litigation.

Candidates with an existing portable book of business or established client relationships are strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities
Serve as trusted outside employment counsel to businesses ranging from emerging companies to established organizations.
Advise employers on federal and state employment law compliance, workforce management, and evolving workplace regulations.
Counsel clients on employee relations matters, including hiring, discipline, performance management, investigations, terminations, reductions in force, accommodations, leave management, and wage and hour compliance.
Draft and negotiate executive employment agreements, offer letters, separation agreements, restrictive covenant agreements, employee handbooks, and workplace policies.
Provide strategic guidance regarding internal investigations, employment best practices, and risk mitigation initiatives.
Advise clients on employment issues arising in mergers, acquisitions, reorganizations, and other corporate transactions.
Represent employers in administrative proceedings or employment disputes as needed, while maintaining a practice centered on preventative counseling.

Qualifications
J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school with a strong academic background.
Active admission to the Massachusetts Bar; additional New England admissions are a plus.
5+ years of management-side employment law experience, with a strong emphasis on counseling employers.
Demonstrated experience serving as outside employment counsel to business clients.
Thorough knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including wage and hour, discrimination, leave and accommodation requirements, restrictive covenants, and workplace compliance.
Exceptional drafting, negotiation, and client counseling skills.
Portable book of business or portable billings of approximately $200,000+ strongly preferred.
Experience with executive compensation, employee benefits, nonprofit organizations, or employment aspects of corporate transactions is a plus.
