Overview:
The White Plains, NY office of Kaufman Dolowich, a full-service National Law firm with more than 250 attorneys across 16 offices and over 25 practice areas, is actively seeking an attorney to join our growing Labor and Employment practice group.
Our Employment Practice Group represents employers in complex and high-profile employment matters across a broad range of industries. The ideal candidate will possess strong litigation, research, writing, and advocacy skills, with experience independently managing sophisticated employment matters through all phases of litigation.
Responsibilities
- Independently manage all phases of employment litigation from inception through resolution
- Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, legal memoranda, discovery requests and responses, and other litigation-related filings
- Conduct and defend depositions and participate in mediations, settlement negotiations, and other dispute resolution proceedings
- Attend and advocate at court appearances, hearings, arbitrations, settlement conferences, and trials
- Handle matters involving discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour disputes, wrongful termination, restrictive covenant matters, and other employment-related claims
- Advise and counsel employers on workplace issues, employment law compliance, personnel matters, and risk management strategies
- Manage discovery, motion practice, investigations, and case deadlines in both state and federal courts
- Communicate directly with clients, provide strategic guidance, and maintain strong client relationships
- Collaborate with attorneys across offices and practice groups to develop litigation strategies and achieve favorable outcomes
Qualifications
- Minimum of 4 years of employment litigation experience
- Admission to practice in New York required
- Experience handling matters in state and federal court
- Demonstrated experience drafting and arguing motions, conducting depositions, and representing clients in mediations and other proceedings
- Excellent legal writing, analytical, negotiation, and communication abilities
- Ability to independently manage an active caseload and prioritize competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to client service
Preferred Experience
- Employment discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and wage and hour litigation
- Federal and state wage and hour matters, including collective and class actions
- Traditional labor and employment law matters
- Investigations before the U.S. Department of Labor, New York State Department of Labor, EEOC, and state and local human rights agencies
- Advising employers on workplace policies, compliance issues, and personnel management strategies

Base Salary Range: $140,000-$160,000
