EMR Training Manager

Full-time (40 Hours per week)

General Responsibility:

The EMR Training Manager collaborates with providers and support staff to improve knowledge and utilization of Electronic Medical Record (EMR) functionality, enhance clinical documentation, increase workflow efficiency, and assess operational processes. This role serves as a subject matter expert in EMR, Practice Management, Patient Portal, Electronic Dental Record (EDR), and other integrated applications that support patient intake, patient engagement, scheduling, billing, and operational workflows.

The EMR Training Manager provides leadership and support during system implementations, upgrades, and optimizations, while serving as a key resource for testing, maintaining, and improving EMR applications. This position is responsible for delivering ongoing training, support, and continued education across all departments to ensure adherence to organizational guidelines, compliance standards, and industry best practices.

Significant Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive EMR training programs for clinical and administrative staff.
  • Conduct new hire onboarding and ongoing training sessions related to EMR, Practice Management, Patient Portal, EDR systems, and other integrated applications.
  • Assess staff proficiency and identify opportunities for improvement in EMR usage and workflow efficiency.
  • Collaborate with providers, managers, and staff to optimize documentation practices and improve operational workflows.
  • Act as the primary subject matter expert for EMR functionality, troubleshooting, and best practices.
  • Support system implementations, upgrades, and workflow redesign initiatives.
  • Participate in testing new system features, workflows, and updates to ensure functionality aligns with organizational needs.
  • Create and maintain training materials, user guides, workflows, and standard operating procedures.
  • Monitor compliance with documentation standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
  • Provide one-on-one coaching and support to staff to reinforce system knowledge and performance improvement.
  • Track training completion, competency assessments, and system adoption metrics.
  • Partner with IT, clinical leadership, and vendors to resolve issues and enhance system performance.
  • Stay current on EMR industry trends, system enhancements, and healthcare technology best practices.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Health Information Technology, Education, or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with EMR/PM systems in a healthcare setting.
  • Previous training, education, or staff development experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of clinical workflows, medical/dental documentation, and practice management systems.
  • Experience with system implementation, workflow optimization, and application testing.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Familiarity with UDS, CMS quality programs, AE reporting frameworks, and PCMH standards.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, and clinical workflows.
  • Working knowledge of NextGen Products preferred.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
