Job Description

Provides leadership and oversight of the Emergency Medical Services Department. Responsible for the daily operations of EMS, including personnel, scheduling, training, quality improvement, equipment, budgeting, and regulatory compliance. Ensures the delivery of safe, efficient, and high-quality prehospital emergency medical care while maintaining compliance with all hospital, state, and federal regulations.

Essential Functions of the Job

  •  Supervise all EMS personnel and daily operations. 
  •  Develop and enforce EMS policies, procedures, and protocols. 
  •  Ensure compliance with Louisiana Bureau of EMS regulations and hospital policies. 
  •  Coordinate staffing, scheduling, hiring, training, and employee evaluations. 
  •  Oversee quality assurance and review patient care documentation. 
  •  Maintain readiness of ambulances, medical equipment, and EMS facilities. 
  •  Manage departmental budget, inventory, and purchasing. 
  •  Coordinate with physicians, hospital administration, law enforcement, fire departments, and other agencies. 
  •  Respond to major incidents, disasters, and operational emergencies as needed. 
  •  Promote employee safety, professionalism, and quality patient care. 
  •  Perform other duties as assigned.

  •  Maintain departmental records, certifications, and training files. 
  •  Coordinate equipment maintenance and inspections. 
  •  Participate in hospital and community meetings. 
  •  Assist with grant opportunities, planning, and special projects. 
  •  Perform other related duties as assigned. 
Minimum Qualifications

  •  High school diploma or GED required. 
  •  Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Louisiana Paramedic certification preferred; Louisiana EMT certification accepted with applicable leadership or supervisory experience.
  •  Current BLS certification required. 
  •  Valid Louisiana driver's license. 
  •  EMS leadership or supervisory experience preferred. 
  •  Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills. 
Other Requirements

  •  Ability to respond to emergency incidents when necessary. 
  •  Ability to operate emergency vehicles and EMS equipment. 
  •  Must be available after hours, weekends, holidays, and during disasters when required. 
  •  Maintain all required licenses, certifications, and continuing education. 
  •  Maintain a professional appearance in accordance with hospital policy. 
  •  Perform additional duties as assigned by Hospital Administration.
