AMR is offering a unique opportunity to earn a paycheck while learning how to be an EMT, with afull-timeposition after completion.
 
What is an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)?
 
The primary focus of the EMT is to provide basic emergency medical care and transportation for emergent and non-emergent patients who access the emergency medical system. This individualpossessesthe basic knowledge and skills necessary to provide patient care and transportation, and functions as part of a comprehensive EMS response under medical oversight. An EMT performs interventions with the basic equipment typically found on an ambulance and is a link from the scene to the health care system.
 
About the Program:
 
The Academy is a rigorousmultipleweek program which qualifies the employee(s) to take the National Registry of EMT exam, then becomealicensed EMT-Basic.There is no cost for the class, and all books, tuition,feesand uniforms will be paid for on the student's behalf. Upon successful completion of the class, all tests and state licensure, the employee will be transferred to an EMT positionwithintheoperation.
 
The right candidates must:
 
Be at least 18 years old
 
Have proof of a HS diploma or GED
 
Havethe ability tomeet all health standards of the education program enrolled in, including immunization status and health screenings
 
Successfully complete the pre-employment screening which includes motor vehicle and criminal background checks, drug testing,academic/cognitive screening (Fisdap), and a physical agility test
 
Mustpossessa valid state driver's license
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES
 
Drives an emergency vehicle to and from calls to transport patient(s) in a safe and prudent manner using the most efficient route to ensure the quickest response times.
 
Mustdemonstratecompetency in handling emergenciesutilizingall basic life support equipment and skillsin accordance withall behavioralobjectivesin the EMT curriculum.
 
Assistsin carrying patient(s) by stretcher or other device to emergency vehicle and secure patient inside the vehicle choosing the safest means of transport.
 
Initiates patient treatment and careutilizinginitial protocol treatment based on patient condition.
 
Conducts basic life support skills.
 
Obtains and preserves wherepossible samplesof substances toassisthospital personnel in patient diagnosis and treatment asestablishedby local operations procedures.
 
Observes and keep recordsregardingsymptoms of patients asestablishedby local operations procedures.
 
Communicates information to other members of the healthcare profession, patients, family members, and other responders as necessary andappropriate.
 
Accuratelyand completelydocumentsall information required by GMR and the local and state medical control.
 
Completes andsubmitsall other documentation (i.e.Daily Check Sheet) asestablishedby local operations procedures.
 
Communicatesanypossible delays, customer service issues, supply shortages, equipment malfunctions etc., to supervisorin a timely manner.
 
Follows up with customers asappropriate togain feedback on services provided, seeking opportunities for process improvement asestablishedby local operations procedures.
 
Inspects, safelyoperates, andmaintainsall equipment, supplies, and tools to meet standards set by GMR, local state, and local medical control. Requisitions and restocks upplies, material, and equipment.
 
Checks emergency vehicle regularly to ensure vehicle is in good operating condition throughout shift.
 
Cleans andmaintainsthe cleanliness of GMR property, including but not limited to its vehicles, equipment, buildings, and surrounding area(s)
 
Maintains a safe and healthy workplace as per the standards set forth by the Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) and GMR.
 
Stays current with leading industry practices/knowledge base.
 
Comply withall current policies and procedures. Remains aware of all policy changes and information posted on EMSA, on company notice boards, company email, and by communicating with leadership staff.
 
Maintains all required licenses and certifications asestablishedby local operations procedures.
 
Attends all required staff meetings.
 
Perform other duties as assigned.
 
What happens after passing the course?
 
After successful completion of the course, the employee will be eligible to take a written and skills test through the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT). Once certified by the NREMT, the employee will thensubmitthe required documentation to the state to obtain theirStateEMT license.
 
Upon receipt of the state EMT license, employees will choose their full-time shift andcompletenew employee training. They will also qualify for benefits including:
