EMT Basic - FT Summary: Emergency Medical Technicians respond to emergency calls to provide efficient and immediate care to the critically ill and injured and to transport the patient to a medical facility. At all times the EMT is expected to perform all job responsibilities in alignment with the mission and core values of MASSAC Memorial Hospital and comply with all MASSAC policies and procedures, OSHA, HIPAA, federal, local and state regulations.Report to: EMS SupervisorEssential Duties and Responsibilities: Maintains ambulance readiness to respond to emergency calls. This includes when reporting for duty check operating condition of vehicles, checks gas, oil, battery, water, radiator water, tire pressure, oxygen, drugs, etc and complete DOT sheet. Prepares ambulance for next run. Replaces used linens, blankets and other supplies, Sterilizes tools and equipment.Drives ambulance to location using caution and the most expeditious route depending on traffic and weather conditions. Observe traffic ordinances and regulations concerning emergency vehicle operation. Maintains radio contact during runs.Provides patient care including but not limited to providing immediate care to patient from arrival at scene through transportation and delivery to the medical facility. Establishes priority for required emergency care. Complies with prescribed regulations and procedures on the handling of the deceased.Perform administrative duties including but not limited to making complete report on each run including ambulance trip ticket form, personal property form, payment receipts and any individual information requested.Additional duties include but not limited to: Comply with all hospital policies and procedures. Provide exceptional customer service to all external and internal customers. Perform work in effective, organized accountable and competant manner including following oral and written instruction. Be respectful, courteous and caring in all interactions with others. Demonstrate initiative and ownership in performance of duties.Must keep knowledge and skills current via education activities, in-services and other training. Must pass competency and proficiency testing as required by department or hospital including computer based testing. Must adapt to changing work assignments and comfortable serving diverse community.Education: Must have valid IL EMT-B license. BLS card required.Requirements: Must have a valid state drivers license.Experience: Minimum of 1 year experience working for ambulance service is preferred. Must be able to perform duties in a calm, reassuring and efficient manner. Must be able to maintain composure in extremely stressful situations. Must also be able to safely transfer a patient on to and lift and carry a stretcher into the ambulance in the event the patient needs to go to the hospital.MMH is an equal opportunity employer********
