Job Summary

We are looking for a part-time Emergency Medical Technology instructor to teach EMT 274 Critical Care Transport. This course prepares experienced clinicians with the advanced skills required to transport the critically ill and injured.
Course Description
This course is not intended for the entry-level clinician but to challenge experienced providers to perform in-depth assessments, hemodynamic monitoring, blood chemistry, radiologic, and EKG, and determine invasive care, intubation, RSI, chest tube, thoracostomy, determination of ventilator settings, and IABP, beyond the traditional scope of practice.
This requires a comprehensive knowledge of physiology as clinicians anticipate and respond to the various modes of transport from prehospital scenes to interfacility transports. The course will also present procedures for communication, safe packaging, and transport of patients according to accreditation standards with emphasis on just culture practices.
This course serves as a preparation for IBSC certification, although it will not cover the aviation rules and regulations related to flight.

Job Responsibilities
This part-time faculty EMT position teaches and evaluates students in the classroom setting, makes assignments, provides clinical papers, serves as a role model and student advocate, assists in the development of course and curriculum materials, and identifies and offers application of curriculum conceptual model and related theory courses.
Student learning in this course will be monitored and measured using a variety of approved methods, including but not limited to writing assignments, collaborative projects, case studies, formative and summative assessments, and problem-solving activities.
The instructor for this course will complete course and program-related assignments delegated by the program director, assist with grant proposals, student recruitment and admissions, and new clinician teaching assistant orientation, prepare reports, and serve as liaison for securing clinical facility needs.
Minimum Qualifications
Must be currently licensed at the Paramedic level by Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. Must be certified in ACLS and PHTLS or ITLS. A minimum of 2 years of experience in the field is required.
