JOB SUMMARY

The Endodontist will specialize in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of any damage and/or injury to the tooth pulp as well as the tissue and nerves within and surrounding the root of a tooth that have become damaged or infected due to some type of bacteria. Part-time position - up to 20 hours/week.

CHARACTERISTIC JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assume quality of care for patients with endodontic problems while adhering to the highest standard of dental practice ethics and professionalism.

• Examines diagnoses and treats diseases of dental pulps and periapical tissues of teeth. • Evaluates findings and prescribes method of treatment to prevent loss of teeth and to restore teeth to function. • Examines diagnoses and treats diseases of nerve pulp and other dental tissues affecting vitality of teeth. • Examines teeth, gums, and related tissues to determine condition using dental instruments, X-Ray, and other diagnostic equipment.

Diagnoses condition and plans treatment.

• Treats exposure of pulp by pulp capping or removal of pulp from pulp chamber and root canal using dental instruments. • Performs partial or total removal of pulp using surgical instruments. • Treats infected root canal and related tissues and fills pulp chamber and canal with endodontic materials.

FACULTY MEMBER RESPONSIBILITIES

Faculty member will contribute and be responsible for overall student success, including but not limited to: • Advising and student outcomes. Faculty member will contribute directly to the Mission of LECOM, embodying the essence of Osteopathic Principles and Practices, by assisting with Institutional fundraising and participating in the LECOM Scholarship Auction.

Faculty member will participate in scholarly activity so to enrich and broaden the student learning experience.

Faculty member will commit to being a representative of LECOM by being actively involved in the community, including but not limited to: • Serving on Boards. • Participating in community fundraisers. • Overall outreach.

REMOVES PATHOLOGIC TISSUE AND REINSERTS TEETH

Removes pathologic tissue at apex of tooth surgically. Reinserts teeth that have been knocked out of mouth by accident.

Be able to accept other duties assigned as needed.
