Responsibilities:

The Endoscopy Technician is responsible for assisting with various types of endoscopic procedures.

 

  • Diagnostic measurements: Performs and records procedures and diagnostic measurements including temperature, pulse, respiratory and blood pressure determined by skills training and validation.
  • Ensures cleanliness of the endoscopy suite, utility room and lounge area. Acceptable housekeeping duties to provide a safe, clean, therapeutic environment for the patients are performed daily, and in a timely manner. Responsible for waste management of utilized chemicals.
  • Equipment is maintained at all times. Maintains Endoscopy equipment and instruments before, during and after daily operations through proper cleaning, troubleshooting and servicing, performing leakage testing as directed.
  • Performs services related to clinical support equipment.: Consistently performs a variety of direct services related to clinical support equipment. Acquisition of and replacement of equipment. Transports equipment for off-unit endo procedures. Communicates with vendors, keeps inventory of parts and supplies, and orders supplies when needed.
  • Provides appropriate clerical support to the department.: Handles Endoscopy bookings from physicians and their offices, answers phone calls and assists in individual record keeping and filing. Assembles charts for the next day.
  • Provides care of patients as directed by RN: Provides input for nursing care plan in accordance with endoscopy procedure. Transports patient to and from procedure Transports patient to X-ray / other areas Assist post-sedated patients to bathroom Orders all kitchen and food supplies.
  • Other duties and/or projects as assigned.
  • Adheres to HMH Organizational competencies and standards of behavior.
Qualifications:

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

 

  • High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Proficient computer skills that include but are not limited to Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite platforms.

 

Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred:

 

  • Experience as an Endoscopy Assistant. 
  • Knowledge of infection control / prevention.

 

Licenses and Certifications Required:

  •  AHA Basic Health Care Life Support HCP Certification
