    Overview

    The Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW) is the largest municipally owned gas utility in the nation, supplying gas service in the City of Philadelphia to over 500,000 customers. From its humble beginnings in 1836, PGW has grown into the large, modern facility that exists today.     Philadelphia Gas Works (PGW) is offering internships/co-ops for Computer Science students in our Information Service Governance  Department. Opportunities are available during the academic/calendar year and summer months.

     

    The PGW Internship Program is designed for students currently enrolled FULL-TIME at an accredited college or university with a sophomore classification or above ONLY.

    Responsibilities

    Research Projects

     

    Ongoing review of national gas energy efficiency programs.

    • Program designs
    • Targeted Measures
    • Incentive levels
    • Marketing Practices

    Provide recommendations and support program for designing future EnergySense energy efficiency programs and low income weatherization programs.

    Research grant opportunities and other programs in region that can support energy efficiency, and maintain a catalog of those organizations.

    Review of new customer service program opportunities.

    • Research of best practices within the industry
    • Compilation of program materials
    • Program marketing and participation

    Support customer service initiatives.

     

    Data Analysis

    • Analyze program data and customer billing data to determine if energy efficiency measures are achieving savings, and make recommendations for program improvement based off analysis
    • Philadelphia demographics & PGW customer data to inform targeted marketing
    • Refining program marketing outreach databases for targeted outreach

    Marketing/Communications

    • Assistance in development of communications materials, drafting newsletters and social media posts
    • Identifying key outreach partners & stakeholders
    • Analyze data from recent marketing campaigns to identify trends and inform strategy

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Policy, Environmental Studies, Communications, or a or other related field of study and currently enrolled in Graduate School OR currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s degree program in Business Administration, Public Policy, Environmental Studies or other related field of study as a Junior or Senior.
    • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with customers and employees.
    • Must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to negotiate and influence others in the best interest of PGW while maintaining professional effective business relationships.
    • Be able to commit to 15-20 hours per week to the program (year-round interns);
