Location: Albuquerque, NM (Remote + Field-Based. Local Travel will be required)

Are you ready to make a difference?

The Energy Efficiency Outreach Coordinator plays a critical role in increasing awareness, participation, and customer engagement for the PNM Home Energy Checkup Program. This role serves as the connection between the program, community organizations, contractors, and residential customers throughout New Mexico.

The Outreach Coordinator will lead community engagement efforts, build and maintain relationships with local partners, support program marketing initiatives, coordinate outreach campaigns, and represent the program at public events. While the role may conduct occasional home energy assessments and educational site visits, the primary focus is driving program awareness, lead generation, and customer participation through strategic outreach and partnership development.

This position requires a highly organized, self-motivated professional who is comfortable working independently in the field, managing multiple initiatives simultaneously, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and building trusted relationships across diverse communities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain relationships with community-based organizations, local governments, nonprofits, trade allies, and other strategic partners.
  • Serve as a program ambassador, promoting the PNM Home Energy Checkup Program through outreach events, presentations, workshops, and community meetings.
  • Attend and coordinate 1-5 in-person outreach events, resource fairs, community gatherings, and partner engagements per week.
  • Identify new outreach opportunities and partnership strategies to increase program participation.
  • Coordinate with internal marketing teams to support outreach campaigns, promotional materials, digital communications, and customer engagement activities.
  • Track outreach activities, leads, event outcomes, and partner engagement metrics.
  • Manage contractor relationships that support program delivery, ensuring effective communication, performance tracking, and issue resolution.
  • Provide program education and guidance to customers, partners, and stakeholders.
  • Conduct occasional home energy assessments, energy education visits, or program eligibility reviews as needed.
  • Support customer follow-up efforts to encourage participation and completion of recommended energy-saving actions.
  • Facilitate communication across outreach, marketing, operations, and contractor teams to ensure alignment on program goals and initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation using program databases and CRM systems.
  • Gather customer and community feedback to help improve program design, outreach strategies, and participant experience.

What You Will Be Doing:

  • Participant enrollment and onboarding
  • Project planning, scheduling, and execution
  • Contractor oversight and quality assurance
  • Stakeholder communication and coordination
  • Project closeout and documentation
  • Program documentation and process mapping
  • Must have a reliable vehicle for local travel. Requirements are between 25% to 40% of the time. (reimbursement for mileage provided)

What we need you to have (minimum qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree in a related discipline (e.g., Energy, Sustainability, Business, Community Development, Environmental Science) (One year of professional experience may be substituted for one year of education)
  • 1+ years of experience in community outreach, account management, customer success, energy efficiency, utilities, or a related field
  • Strong organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, CRM systems, databases, and digital collaboration tools
  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a field-based environment
  • Valid driver's license and successful completion of a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR) check

What we would like you to have (preferred):

  • Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency.
  • Experience working with New Mexico communities, local governments, tribal communities, nonprofits, or community-based organizations.
  • Experience supporting utility, energy efficiency, electrification, sustainability, or public-benefit programs.
  • Knowledge of residential energy efficiency technologies and energy-saving practices.
  • Experience coordinating contractors, vendors, or implementation partners.
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms, marketing automation systems, or data tracking tools.
  • BPI Certificate of Knowledge, BPI Building Analyst, LEED Green Associate, CEM, or similar industry certification.

Expected Outcomes In Role

  • Growth in customer leads, enrollments, and completed Home Energy Checkups.
  • Strong partnerships with community organizations, local agencies, and key stakeholders.
  • Effective coordination and accountability among program contractors and implementation partners.
  • Successful execution of community engagement events and outreach campaigns.
  • Consistent and accurate tracking of outreach activities, leads, and performance metrics.
  • Improved collaboration between outreach, marketing, operations, and implementation teams.
  • Meaningful community insights that help inform program improvements and future outreach strategies.
