Engagement Specialist/Peer Support

The Engagement Peer Specialist aids and support to clients with addiction. This person functions as a peer support to clients and assists Outreach Staff in carrying out outreach and engagement activities and tasks in the community. The Peer Specialist is a person who has a unique perspective of addiction because of his/her own experience with the recovery processes that enables an understanding of client struggles with addiction and provides them with unique sensitivity to client issues.
Key Responsibilities:
Use lived experience to offer emotional, social, and practical support to individuals facing similar challenges, fostering a sense of hope, empowerment, and motivation for recovery.
Serve as a role model by sharing personal experiences and demonstrating strategies for overcoming challenges and promoting recovery-oriented behaviors.
Assist individuals in accessing appropriate services and community resources, such as mental health and substance use treatment, employment and healthcare.
Lead or co-facilitate support groups or educational sessions.
Advocate for clients' needs with other service providers, ensuring they have access to the services and support required for their recovery.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client interactions, progress, and outcomes in accordance with agency guidelines and expectations.
Offer support in crisis situations by providing de-escalation techniques, offering resources, and ensuring the individual's safety.
Work closely with mental health professionals, social workers, case managers, and other team members to provide integrated care for clients.
Requirements:
Peer Recovery Support certification required (PRS).
Valid Ohio driver's license. Will transport clients in own vehicle.
Must have proof of current auto insurance coverage and meet driving record requirements.
