    Engineer 1 – System Planning & Forecasting

    Location: Atlanta, GA
    Contract- 3 Years

    Client- Southern Company Gas.

    Job Summary:

    We are seeking an entry-level Engineer 1 to support the System Planning and Forecasting team with model building and infrastructure analysis for AGLC/CGC territories. This role involves interpreting engineering plans, performing hydraulic analyses, and supporting natural gas system modeling to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable service delivery.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Assist in the development and maintenance of hydraulic system models for gas distribution networks.

    • Read and interpret engineering drawings, construction plans, and system schematics.

    • Support forecasting activities by contributing to capacity planning and infrastructure modeling.

    • Collaborate with internal engineering, construction, and GIS teams to incorporate as-built data into system models.

    • Utilize Microsoft Excel and Access for data analysis and reporting.

    • Conduct occasional site visits to observe field construction work and validate model accuracy.

    • Support team in using ArcGIS and other software for spatial data integration.

    • Maintain documentation and ensure accuracy in all engineering work products.

    Qualifications:

    Education:

    • Required: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution

    • Preferred Disciplines: Civil, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering

    Experience:

    • 0–5 years of relevant engineering experience (internships and co-op programs count)

    Required Skills & Knowledge:

    • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and utility plans (Intermediate to Advanced)

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint (Intermediate)

    • Strong written and verbal communication skills

    • Analytical mindset and attention to detail

    Preferred Skills:

    • Experience with MS Access (Intermediate to Advanced)

    • Prior hydraulic analysis or gas modeling experience

    • Familiarity with ArcGIS or other geospatial analysis tools
