OverviewPacArctic, LLC, a Koniag Government Services company, is looking for a highly qualified, experienced and self-motivated individual to perform the duties of an Engineer – 1st Class in Washington, DC. This position is for a future business opportunity.All benefits will be provided by the CBA.The "Engineer - 1st Class" is a highly skilled, licensed professional responsible for the operation, maintenance, and repair of complex mechanical systems such as boilers, HVAC/Mechanical units, and electrical equipment within a large federal facility, requiring extensive knowledge of safety regulations and the ability to troubleshoot and perform maintenance and repairs on a variety of mechanical equipment, with a high level of autonomy and oversight over junior engineers. The position is the most senior level of stationary engineer within the facility and is expected to ensure all work complies with industry, state, and federal regulations. Work is inspected for acceptability and compliance with scope and code. This position requires union membership.ResponsibilitiesPerform as leads for all shifts and as first responder to equipment emergencies, performing and managing maintenance, operating complex building systems, and ensuring safety compliance.Responsible for 24-hour monitoring and operation of HVAC, boilers, chillers, and utility plant equipment.Acts as a first responder to stationary equipment failures and implements safety procedures.Perform, and/or oversee maintenance staff and vendors performing, repairs on complex mechanical and electrical systems.Ensure operations meet safety, environmental, and building codes.Directs the work of junior technicians or maintenance staff for all shifts.Other duties as required by the Program Manager and/or contract requirements.Demonstrated experience working withOperating and maintaining all classes, pressures, and temperatures of steam and water boilers and steam-driven machinery.Operating and maintaining critical mechanical systems (working knowledge).Comprehensive background in large-scale air conditioning, ventilation, and refrigeration systems, including troubleshooting and energy optimization.Practical experience performing maintenance checks and repairs on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) systems.Managing routine maintenance projects, coordinating with outside contractors, and overseeing in-house labor.Emergency back-up power systems (Generators, ATS and UPS).Fire detections and prevention systems.Ensuring all operations comply with OSHA, federal life safety codes, and environmental regulations.Working knowledge of BAS (Boland Tracer and Lon systems) and EPMS systems.Experience using computerized maintenance management system (Maximo).RequirementsPrevious experience working in a 600,000+ sf facility1st Class Engineer License MD or DCASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code CertificationStationary Engineer certificationBoiler Operators License for Low Pressure BoilersClass 1 Power Engineer7 to 10+ years of experience in HVAC, utility plant operations, and stationary engineering (Federal facilities preferred)Ability to direct and coordinate activities for other workers involved in system maintenance.Demonstrated skill and comfort in proactively building relationships.Innovative thinker, with a track record for translating and executing strategic plansStrong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to effectively interface with all levels of management and maintenance personnelActive Secret or Top Secret Clearance (TS preferred) or the ability to obtain a Secret or Top Secret ClearanceOur Equal Employment Opportunity PolicyThe company is an equal opportunity employer.
