Job Title: Engineer – Construction III

Location: Hartford, CT (Hybrid – 3 days onsite, 2 days remote; significant field work required, approximately 70%)
Duration: 12+ Months

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Engineer – Construction III to support the planning, coordination, and execution of multiple network infrastructure and in-building broadband projects. This role requires a combination of field engineering, construction management, and project coordination experience, with significant time spent at customer sites and in the field.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with in-building network installations, broadband technologies, cabling infrastructure, construction management, and vendor coordination while ensuring projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.


Key Responsibilities

  • Manage multiple network infrastructure and construction projects simultaneously.
  • Coordinate installation of new in-building broadband networks and related equipment.
  • Support project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and financial tracking from initiation through completion.
  • Work closely with vendors, contractors, field engineering teams, and customers throughout project execution.
  • Perform site evaluations for multi-tenant residential and commercial buildings to determine network compatibility.
  • Oversee installation activities involving broadband transmission equipment.
  • Produce and maintain accurate as-built documentation.
  • Provide operational and technical support to field engineering and sales teams.
  • Monitor construction progress while ensuring compliance with project timelines and quality standards.
  • Participate in vendor meetings, project status calls, and field inspections.

Required Skills

  • 5–7 years of experience in network construction, field engineering, or broadband infrastructure.
  • Experience designing and installing in-building network architectures.
  • Hands-on experience with:
    • Coaxial cabling
    • Twisted-pair copper cabling
    • Fiber optic cabling
    • CAT6a Ethernet
    • Network switching equipment
  • Experience testing and troubleshooting network cabling.
  • Knowledge of CATV provider termination points (terminals, pedestals, etc.).
  • Experience managing wireless network or cell site construction projects.
  • Strong project scheduling and financial management skills.
  • Experience working directly with customers and clients.
  • Ability to identify workplace hazards and follow safety procedures.
  • Comfortable working on ladders (step, extension, and folding ladders).
  • Experience drilling in residential and commercial buildings.
  • Must have a personal vehicle capable of transporting tools and equipment.
  • Strong computer skills and ability to work with project management tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent field experience.
  • Experience working on commercial or residential rooftops (flat and pitched).
  • Familiarity with Google Workspace and mobile productivity applications.
  • Experience supporting broadband, wireless, or telecommunications infrastructure deployments.
