Role Description The Engineer-Diver role is a full-time, on-site position based in the Wall, NJ office, servicing the New York City and Philadelphia Metropolitan Areas. Day-to-day responsibilities include performing underwater inspections, condition assessments, and surveys of marine and waterfront structures such as piers, bulkheads, bridges, and pipelines. The Engineer-Diver will collect field data, prepare technical reports, drawings, and documentation, and assist in the design and rehabilitation of underwater and coastal infrastructure. The role involves coordinating with project managers and clients, supporting construction oversight, and adhering to strict safety and regulatory standards. The Engineer-Diver will also participate in dive planning, equipment preparation and maintenance, and post-dive debriefs to ensure accurate, reliable engineering outcomes.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in civil, structural, coastal, or marine engineering, with the ability to apply engineering principles to waterfront and underwater structures.

• Commercial diving certification (or the ability to obtain one), with experience or training in underwater inspection, mapping, and documentation.
• \n
• Proficiency in technical report writing, drafting, and documentation using tools such as CAD and basic engineering software.
• \n
• Knowledge of construction practices, inspection standards, and relevant codes and regulations for marine and coastal infrastructure.
• \n
• Demonstrated commitment to safety, including adherence to dive safety protocols and industry best practices.
• \n
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills, with attention to detail in both field and office work.
• \n
• Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to coordinate with cross-functional project teams and clients.
• \n
• Ability to work in physically demanding environments, including cold water, low-visibility conditions, and variable weather.
• \n
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil or related discipline) required; advanced degree or specialized marine/structural coursework is a plus.

• Prior experience in marine, bridge, or waterfront inspection and design is preferred but not required for highly motivated early-career candidates.
