About Leviton:
At Leviton, we build what's next to light, power, and connect everyday spaces, from electrical to lighting, to data networks, and energy management. With over 115 years of history, Leviton develops thoughtful solutions that help make its customers' lives easier, safer, more efficient, and more productive. We recognize that our people are our greatest asset. We ASK questions, EMBRACE challenges, SEEK new perspectives, and ANTICIPATE what comes next. It's about each person bringing skills and passion to a challenging and constantly changing world.
Overview:
The Document Control Engineer is responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and traceability of all technical data and engineering records for our LED lighting products. This role requires the individual to bridge the gap between design engineering and manufacturing by owning the revision control process, maintaining data inside Oracle ERP, and ensuring the production team always works from the latest approved blueprints. Prior mechanical design background with lighting experience is a plus.
Responsibilities:
- Build multi-level Bills of Materials (BOMs) in Oracle ERP for complex LED luminaires, ensuring accurate hierarchy from raw aluminum to electronic drivers.
- Configure product variants in the ERP system to accommodate modular lighting options, including varied color temperatures (CCT), dimming profiles, and mounting hardware.
- Assign and manage unique part numbers for mechanical housing, optical lenses, LED printed circuit boards (PCBs), and hardware components using strict naming conventions.
- Own the Engineering Change Order (ECO) workflow, routing design modifications through engineering, purchasing, and manufacturing departments for formal sign-off.
- Enforce strict revision controls on all 2D mechanical fabrication drawings, 3D CAD files, and electronic schematics to prevent manufacturing errors.
- Execute immediate ERP system updates upon ECO approval, replacing obsolete part numbers and updating active component revisions in real-time.
- Maintain change log histories, documenting the exact reasoning, implementation dates, and material disposition for every engineering modification
- Additional duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Oracle ERP Data Entry: Expert item master creation, BOM structuring, and product variant configuration.
- Revision Control: Expert tracking and archiving of 3D CAD models, 2D prints, and technical data.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel: Advanced data cleanup, VLOOKUPs, data mapping, and pivot tables.
- CAD Software Familiarity: Competency navigating SolidWorks is a must.
- LED Technology Literacy: Deep understanding of drivers, PCBs, CCT options, and optical components.
- Ability to read technical drawings, including 2D mechanical blueprints, manufacturing geometric tolerancing, and electrical schematics.
- Ability to work in a team environment and independently
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering required
- 2+ years of experience in document control, configuration management, or data entry within a manufacturing environment.
- Hands-on proficiency with Oracle ERP focusing on BOM creation and item master maintenance.
- Background in the lighting industry with exposure to LED luminaires, electronic drivers, PCBs, and optical components.
- Proven track record managing ECOs (Engineering Change Orders) and enforcing strict engineering revision control standards.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel, for auditing, manipulating, and cleaning large technical datasets.
- Familiarity with 3D CAD platforms (like SolidWorks, Creo, or Autodesk Inventor) to locate and verify design data
Travel:
- Up to 5%; both domestic and international travel required
What We Offer:
Comprehensive benefits include:
- Medical, dental, and vision insurance programs
- 401K plans with employer-matching contributions
- Tuition reimbursement

Leviton Manufacturing
In 1906, Isidor Leviton founded a small tinsmithing business in New York City. He began by manufacturing gas mantle tips and selling them on a push cart on the busy streets of Manhattan. In 1910, Leviton partnered with Thomas Edison to design the pull-chain lampholders for his electric lamps. Within ten years, the lampholders were being used in every apartment in New York and the Leviton business grew to new heights.
A lot has changed since then, but two things have remained the same: Leviton is still a family business with a reputation for great quality, and we are still driven by a desire to innovate and adapt by creating sustainable, intelligent solutions for our customers.
With over a century of proven success, Leviton aims to provide energy efficient products that improve electrical safety, enhance communication and add convenience to our world. From electrical wiring devices to lighting energy management to security & automation, Leviton offers a wide range of products to meet any needs.
In North America, at least 90% of homes use Leviton products, and we are the number one choice for electrical contractors. We hold over 1,000 patents, and our products are available in over 80 countries.
