Overview In this role, you will support the design, development, and evaluation of prototype printed circuit boards (PCBs), fixtures, and tools for advanced medical devices. You will apply engineering and scientific principles to evaluate technical challenges and contribute to effective solutions while exercising sound technical judgment under the guidance of senior engineers.Responsibilities Perform engineering studies and support electrical characterization and verification activities for Class III active implantable medical devices, including test planning, automation, execution, and data analysis.Develop and execute test methods, processes, and automation, and evaluate results against established requirements and performance limits.Document development and verification activities to comply with design control and regulatory requirements.Use standard electronic laboratory equipment (oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, arbitrary waveform generators, LCR meters, power supplies) to assess device capabilities.Prepare detailed test reports, verification summaries, and review materials, including statistical analysis, and recommend efficient, cost‑effective engineering practices.Provide supporting services and tooling, lay out and construct prototype tools and fixtures, conduct evaluations, tests, and analyses as directed by senior engineers.Perform troubleshooting and fault isolation on breadboards and hybrid circuits.Document procedures, tool specifications, schematics, and mechanical layouts for tool release.Conduct analysis, troubleshooting, and testing on embedded systems, DSP, and mixed‑signal integrated circuits.Comply with FDA regulations, company policies, and operational procedures.Maintain positive communication and collaboration with all levels of employees, customers, contractors, and vendors.Qualifications Bachelor's Degree in electrical/electronic engineering or related field (or equivalent combination of education and work experience).Minimum 3 years of relevant work experience in layout, construction, and evaluation of printed circuit boards, fixtures, and tools for medical devices.Demonstrated ability to understand and comply with FDA regulations and company operating procedures, policies, and tasks.Strong computer skills: spreadsheets, word processing, database management, and specialized applications.Advanced credentials or professional certification in a relevant discipline desirable.Six‑sigma knowledge and experience desirable.Training and experience in manufacturing processes and methods, especially in medical devices, desirable.Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross‑division business unit model preferred.Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse environment.Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate at multiple organizational levels.Excellent multitasking, prioritization, and organizational skills; attention to detail.Experience with simulation software (e.g., SPICE, Matlab, COMSOL) preferred.Ability to travel approximately 10%, including internationally.Job Details Title: Electrical Engineer ILocation: Sunnyvale, CA (United States > Sunnyvale)Base Salary: $73,900.00 - $116,000.00Job Family: Product DevelopmentDivision: CRM Cardiac Rhythm ManagementShift: StandardTravel: NoMedical Surveillance: YesSignificant Work Activities: Continuous sitting for prolonged periods; Keyboard use >50% of workday; Work in a cleanroom environment.Benefits Training and career development, onboarding programs, tuition assistance.Competitive compensation, incentives, and retirement plans (401(k) with generous company match).Health care and well‑being programs: medical, dental, vision, wellness, occupational health.Paid time off.EEO Statement Abbott is an Equal Opportunity Employer committed to employee diversity.
