This entry-level role assists in the development of construction plans, engineering documentation, and field surveys to support network builds, upgrades, and maintenance. The ideal candidate has a foundational understanding of OSP design standards and is eager to grow within a dynamic engineering team.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSAssist in the design and drafting of fiber routes using GIS, CAD, or similar platformsSupport field data collection efforts, including site surveys and pole/underground assessmentsInterpret construction prints, permits, and municipal right-of-way requirementsCoordinate with internal teams, contractors, and utilities to ensure accurate OSP design and documentationPrepare and maintain project documentation, including design drawings, BOMs, and redlinesEnsure compliance with industry standards, local ordinances, and safety regulationsTrack project progress and support issue resolution under supervision of senior engineersProvide technical support during construction and post-construction validationQUALIFICATIONSEducation and Experience requirements: Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Minimum 1–2 years of relevant experience preferred; internships or co-op experience considered. Familiarity with OSP principles including aerial, underground, and conduit systems. Basic knowledge of GIS/CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD, QGIS, 3-GIS, ArcGIS). Strong communication and organizational skills. Willingness to work in the field and travel locally as needed. Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and utility maps.Experience with fiber network design tools or telecom databasesExposure to permitting processes and utility coordinationUnderstanding of NESC, NEC, and local utility construction codesCERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONSValid driver's licensesPHYSICAL, FIELD, OR ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTSThe physical requirements described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
