Overview of the Position:
Under the direction of the Senior Direct, Engineering and Engineering Supervisor, create component repair documentation, suitable for FAA and/or airline approval. Create manufacturing data needed to fabricate components, printed circuit boards and other items to support the repair of aircraft components. Support the repair station technicians by providing technical assistance, test and assembly fixture creation and detailed procedures.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Reverse engineer, troubleshoot, and repair of various aircraft components, both electrical and mechanical, using manual and automatic measuring equipment.
- Establish measurement tolerances using accepted industry practices and/or review of next higher assemblies.
- Create, revise, and review designs using Solidworks 3D CAD Software platform.
- Create PMA (Parts Manufacturing Authority) and Repair Process Supporting Documentation Packages for submittal to the FAA and/or customers.
- Research, collect data, and work with design teams to evaluate, select, adapt, and modify techniques, procedures and criteria to solve problems.
- Assist in supplier selection to manufacture fabricated or PMA parts.
- Support the goals of the repair station and the company's core values.
- Support an engineering team environment by sharing knowledge, participating in collaboration, communicating clearly and showing respect to other team members.
- Support scheduled project deadlines and keep tasks organized.
- Maintain a neat and organized work area
- Other duties that may be assigned.
Other Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- College graduation with degree or demonstrated equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of document change control processes including Engineering Change Orders, Change Control Board practices and general revision control.
- Must be comfortable working alone or in a team environment.
- Must understand the importance of quality of work and maintain a high level of excellence and integrity when completing projects.
- Strong technical writing skills.
- Ability to understand regulatory requirements for airworthiness in accordance with FAA and various foreign authorities.
- Experience in quality control and new product development within the aviation industry.
- Ability to use hand tools, power tools, soldering and safety equipment.
Education / Experience Requirements: College graduation with degree or demonstrated equivalent experience. Bachelor's degree (Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering preferred); or equivalent as determined by the hiring manager.
