This position works closely with the project manager to perform research, development, calculations, design and delivery. It applies engineering techniques, procedures and design criteria for projects ranging in size and complexity, leverages technical knowledge, experience and client relationships to assist in the execution and evaluation of project designs, and develops conceptual and detailed designs and calculations to support project execution using current drawing and technical tools, programs and software. The role may also mentor, train and review the work of junior engineer staff and provide constructive feedback, contributing to the successful project delivery for a diverse range of projects for HNTB's clients.Primary Focus will includePerforming a wide array of aviation‑related civil design, planning, documentation, and construction support services for large hub commercial airports, aviation cargo, and GA clients in Southern California.Developing design and coordinating technical matters related to the FAA Advisory Circulars, City Standards & Specifications, and other design criteria.Utilizing Autodesk Civil 3D and AutoCAD to prepare engineering designs and construction documents.Collaborating as a member of a project team in the planning and delivery of aviation projects.What You'll DoComplete assigned work within the schedule and number of hours provided.Assist in the development of project specifications.Be responsible for development of discipline‑specific engineering project elements/deliverables such as reports, designs, and plans.Aide in the coordination and productivity of project team members.Provide technical guidance to less experienced engineering project team members.Work closely with other disciplines on multi‑discipline projects.Perform quality control reviews of discipline‑specific engineering project elements/deliverables.Assist with coordination and planning of schedules, hours, and distribution of work within discipline.Perform other duties as assigned.What You'll NeedBachelor's degree in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience, orMaster's degree in Engineering and 3 years of relevant experience, orPhD in Engineering and 2 years of relevant experience.What You'll BringOptimizing work processes by using knowledge of the most effective and efficient ways to get things done with a focus on continuous improvement.Independently progressing the majority of designs and tasks required of the discipline.Exhibiting experience with Microsoft Office Suite, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and ArcGIS.Exhibiting a thorough understanding of the application related to engineering, geometric and algebraic principles.Managing time, proactively forecasting, and communicating project development needs.What We PreferBachelor's degree in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience.Experience with civil and aviation infrastructure design projects.Registered Engineer‑in‑Training (or ability to obtain within six months of hire).Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D.Strong analytical, conceptual, communication and organizational skills.Solid communication skills and strong technical skills.Additional InformationBenefits information: HNTB Total Rewards.
