Researches, develops, and improves methods of designing, building, and shipping products on time and within budget. Ensures the technology, techniques and equipment used are the most efficient, and in good working order. Improves safety and reduces equipment malfunctions. Provides direction and training to production supervisors, assemblers, and technicians. Interacts with engineering department, and senior level professionals both internal and external to AE.RESPONSIBILITIESAssists with line capacity planning and is responsible for yield improvements in collaboration with management and inputs from engineering sections globally across three business units (BUs)Follows up on daily production issues, leads the team to increase yield, improving product quality and manufacturing cost reductionsEstimates manufacturing costs, determines time standards, and makes recommendations for tooling and process requirementsUsing feedback from product quality provides corrective action and monitors implementationDrives continuous improvement projects to elevate product performance in manufacturingPerforms preventative maintenance on manufacturing equipmentCreates and modifies manufacturing process documentationTakes total ownership of documentation related to the BU in AE's Quality Management System (QMS) to include origination, modification, and obsolescence through Engineering Change Orders (ECOs)Implements manufacturing‑industry best known methods in support of continuous improvement projects to increase efficiency and effectivity of the production lineAnalyzes work content for distribution to work centers and capacity requirementsRecommends and prepares process improvements which will facilitate manufacturing excellenceAssists product design teams to drive designs that meet all cost and quality goalsReviews product requirements with design staff to ensure compatibility with processing methodsPerforms Design for Manufacturability analysis on new productsShares tactical level input to operators on manufacturability, training of and introduction to process improvements related to build and needOwns entire process of the wire bonding program from start to finish across three tools, maintenance, programming, and troubleshootingThis includes production wire bonding when applicableResponsible for dissemination of training to team membersCommunicates as a team member, delivering process instructions across multiple, global BUsWORK ENVIRONMENTISO 7, Class 10K cleanroom manufacturing environment 75% of the timeElectronic test environment to include high voltage test stands and ancillary equipmentStandard office environment utilizing standard office equipmentQUALIFICATIONSComfortable working with various manufacturing and electronics tools: vacuum reflow ovens, wire bonders, solder printers, and EFDsDemonstrated and tactical level experience or program management of wire bonding for Integrated Power Electronics Modules (IPEM) in the electronics or automotive industriesAbility to design fixtures for soldering and wire bondingAbility to own multiple, but smaller scale design of experiments (DOEs) on a continual basis, as necessaryProficient in 8 disciplines of problem solving (8D) analysisDemonstrated ability to design and test within the tooling feedback cycleRobust knowledge of SolidWorks requiredAbility to demonstrate good judgment in selecting best practice methods and techniques for manufacturingProven professional skills as an experienced manufacturing engineer with a full understanding of industry practices and company policies and proceduresKnowledge of IPC-610 standardsUnderstanding of electrostatic discharge (ESD) protocolsAbility to solve complex technical problems independentlyAbility to manage multiple projects at one timeDemonstrated ability to perpetuate and display great interpersonal skills in all forms of communicationEXPERIENCEExperience working with solder alloys, adhesives and encapsulants, and aluminum wireExperience with soldering, encapsulant, and adhesive process and equipmentExperienced in application of the process capability index (Cpk) and statistical process control (SPC) data during DOE installation, and executionExperience influencing and negotiating in complex situationsFive+ years of electronics manufacturing engineering experience preferably in a microelectronics or semiconductor production environmentCleanroom experience preferredEDUCATIONBachelors' degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Science, or equivalentCOMPENSATIONAs required by multiple state pay transparency laws, Advanced Energy provides a reasonable range of compensation for each job posting. Actual compensation is influenced by an array of factors including, but not limited to, skill set, level of experience, and specific office location.
