As a Drainage Engineer in Training (EIT) with 2–4 years of experience, you will support the planning, analysis, and design of drainage and stormwater infrastructure projects. This role provides the opportunity to grow your technical expertise under the mentorship of licensed Professional Engineers while contributing to meaningful infrastructure projects in a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment.Department: Community InfrastructureLocation: Las Cruces, NMWhat are the core responsibilities for the role?Assist in the analysis and design of stormwater management, drainage, and flood control systemsPrepare drainage calculations, technical memoranda, and design reports under supervisionDevelop construction drawings and details using CAD and modeling softwarePerform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses using industry-standard toolsSupport project teams through concept, preliminary, and detailed design phasesAssist with quantity takeoffs, cost estimates, and preparation of design documentationCoordinate with other disciplines to support integrated and efficient design solutionsHelp respond to agency comments, RFIs, and internal quality control reviewsParticipate in site visits, data collection, and construction observations as neededAssist with review of shop drawings and contractor submittalsSupport senior staff during construction administration activitiesApply engineering standards, codes, and best practices in all work effortsActively pursue professional licensure and continuing education opportunitiesQualifications, Skills, and CompetenciesBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related disciplineEngineer in Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain within a reasonable timeframe2–4 years of experience in drainage, stormwater, or civil infrastructure designInternship or co‑op experience in consulting or public‑sector work preferredFamiliarity with drainage and hydrologic/hydraulic software (e.g., Civil 3D, HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS, InfoDrainage, or similar)Basic understanding of stormwater design criteria and regulatory requirementsProficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)Strong willingness to learn and take directionClear written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage tasks and meet deadlines in a team environmentDetail‑oriented with a positive, problem‑solving attitudeWhy would a candidate want this job?At Horrocks, you can expect a competitive base salary and award‑winning benefits, including, but not limited to:Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insuranceGenerous paid time off401(k): 50 % match of contribution up to 6 %Professional development opportunities including in‑house trainingPaid professional organization membership and professional licensureFor more information, visit our website at www.horrocks.comEqual Opportunity Employer including disability and protected veteran status#J-18808-Ljbffr
