NOW HIRING: Senior Electrical Engineer – Protection & Control / Relay
We’re looking for an experienced Electrical Engineer to support electric utility transmission and distribution projects, with a strong focus on Protection & Control (P&C), protective relays, substations, and electrical design.
Full-Time | Hybrid – 3 Days/Week Onsite
Some driving required – personal vehicle with mileage reimbursement
This is a senior-level opportunity for an engineer who knows their way around electrical prints, relay logic, P&C drawings, and substation systems and can independently support projects from design through field implementation.
What You’ll Be Doing:
Review and interpret one-lines, three-lines, wiring schematics, elementary diagrams, and P&C drawings
Support protection & control design, installation, modification, and maintenance activities
Review relay applications, settings, and protection schemes
Perform engineering evaluations, calculations, and technical analyses
Support transmission, distribution, and substation capital projects
Participate in design and constructability reviews
Support commissioning, testing, troubleshooting, and field implementation
Collaborate with engineering, operations, field personnel, and project teams
Develop engineering documentation, design packages, reports, and specifications
Help ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and engineering standards
Provide technical leadership and support continuous improvement efforts
What We’re Looking For:
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution
7+ years of relevant electrical engineering experience
Utility, power, EPC, or consulting engineering experience
Strong knowledge of Protection & Control systems and power system fundamentals
Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, wiring diagrams, and P&C prints
Knowledge of substation equipment and electrical protection systems
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
Even Better If You Have:
Transmission or distribution substation P&C experience
SEL relay experience
Relay settings, coordination, or testing experience
Knowledge of NERC, IEEE, and utility standards
Field commissioning/startup experience
AutoCAD or MicroStation experience
PE license or ability to obtain one
