Otto Aerospace is designing world‑class aircraft from first principles physics and delivering ground‑breaking aircraft and economic performance.About the RoleOtto Aerospace is seeking an Engineer, Metallic Materials and Processes to join the Materials and Processes department. The ideal candidate has an interest in materials and processes and a willingness to learn, works from first principles, thrives in a team environment, and gets things done.As a member of the department, you will advise on material selection and best practices, author governing documents, test documents and specifications for materials and processes used in design, fabrication, assembly, inspection and repair of Otto aircraft, and interface with manufacturing suppliers to ensure compliance with Otto prescribed requirements.What You'll DoProvide guidance on metallic materials and processes to the Design and Manufacturing teams during product development and operation, including fasteners and hardware.Advise the Design team on metallic material corrosion protection, heat treatment, coatings and finishes.Author materials and process specifications, test plans and reports.Support multi‑disciplinary configuration development and trade studies.Review engineering definitions for release in the product lifecycle system (PLM).Who You AreEducation: B.S. in Materials Science, Manufacturing, Chemical Engineering or equivalent.Experience: 3–5+ years of aircraft metallic M&P experience (or 2+ years with an M.S.)Knowledge of industry‑standard materials and processes for metallic (required) and non‑metallic (a plus) materials.Proficiency in metallic material fabrication techniques such as machining, welding and sheet‑metal forming.Required SkillsStrong verbal and written communication skills.Active listening to gain insight and understand all project stakeholders.Critical thinking to make prompt, informed, value‑based decisions.Organization to focus on agenda, schedules, frameworks, and methodologies, and to communicate tasks, updates, progress and blockers.Problem solving to assess issues from different viewpoints and formulate optimal solutions.Self‑motivation and commitment from start to finish.Teamwork and team building to establish a collaborative culture and shared goals.Business communication proficiency across email, chat, reports, presentations, and other channels.Ability to work effectively with domestic and international suppliers and partners.Physical requirements: be able to stand and walk for extended periods, sit at desk for prolonged periods, work on computer, and lift up to 20 pounds.Where You'll BeThis role will travel 20–25% to the temporary facility at Meacham Airport in Ft.
