Overview

The client is seeking a highly experienced Network Infrastructure Engineer to support the design, implementation, security, modernization, and ongoing operation of enterprise data center and campus network infrastructure.

This hands-on engineering role will support mission-critical statewide systems and work extensively with Cisco ACI, Cisco Nexus, Software-Defined Access (SDA), Cisco Catalyst, Cisco Identity Services Engine (Client), Palo Alto Networks, ThousandEyes, Cisco Cyber Vision, and DNA Spaces. The engineer will collaborate with infrastructure, wireless, security, and application teams to maintain a highly available, scalable, secure, and modern enterprise network environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, deploy, administer, and troubleshoot Cisco ACI fabrics and Cisco Nexus platforms, including VRFs, Bridge Domains (BDs), EPGs/ESGs, L3Outs, contracts, fabric policies, endpoint learning, and multi-tenant segmentation.

• Integrate Cisco ACI with virtualization and container platforms, including Red Hat OpenShift VMM and Cilium/Isovalent.

• Configure and optimize RoCEv2 within ACI environments to support high-performance, low-latency workloads.

• Deploy and support Cisco Catalyst campus networking environments and Software-Defined Access (SDA) architectures, including wired fabric and Fabric-Enabled Wireless.

• Manage SDA fabric underlay and overlay networks, policy mapping, authentication integrations, segmentation, and assurance operations.

• Configure and administer Cisco Identity Services Engine (Client), including TACACS+, authentication and authorization policy sets, Network Access Control (NAC), and endpoint profiling.

• Support Zero Trust and identity-driven networking through segmentation and policy integration across ACI and SDA environments.

• Configure, administer, and troubleshoot Palo Alto Networks next-generation firewalls, including security policies, NAT, App-ID, URL filtering, security profiles, and related enterprise security controls.

• Deploy and manage ThousandEyes for end-to-end network visibility, routing path analysis, application performance, and network monitoring.

• Implement and support Cisco Cyber Vision for OT/IoT visibility, asset identification, device classification, behavioral analysis, profiling, and segmentation.

• Manage Cisco DNA Spaces for location analytics, telemetry, wireless intelligence, device behavior, and operational insights.

• Troubleshoot complex Layer 2/Layer 3 networking issues, including TCP/IP, VLANs, OSPF, BGP, STP, multicast, QoS, routing, switching, and network security.

• Develop and maintain architecture diagrams, standards, runbooks, operational procedures, asset inventories, and other technical documentation.

• Support network modernization, lifecycle planning, platform upgrades, procurement initiatives, and other enterprise technology projects.

• Collaborate with technical and leadership teams to provide meaningful operational and performance insights from networking and observability platforms.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 15 years of professional experience working with Cisco networking technologies.

• Hands-on production experience with Cisco ACI and Cisco Nexus platforms.

• Deep knowledge of ACI architecture and constructs, including VRF, Client, EPG, ESG, L3Out, contracts, fabric policies, and multi-tenant segmentation.

• Experience integrating ACI with OpenShift VMM and Cilium/Isovalent.

• Strong experience with Cisco Catalyst platforms and SDA fabric technologies.

• Experience administering Cisco Client, including TACACS+, policy sets, authentication, authorization, NAC, and endpoint profiling.

• Experience with Palo Alto Networks firewalls, security policies, security profiles, and enterprise firewall administration.

• Working knowledge of ThousandEyes, Cisco Cyber Vision, DNA Spaces, or comparable network visibility and observability platforms.

• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, VLANs, OSPF, BGP, STP, multicast, QoS, and network security fundamentals.

• Demonstrated ability to support high-availability, enterprise-scale, mission-critical infrastructure.

• Ability to create clear technical documentation, architecture diagrams, standards, and operational procedures.

• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with container networking, virtualization, OpenShift, and cloud-native networking technologies.

• Experience with network automation using Python, Ansible, REST APIs, or similar technologies.

• Familiarity with NIST cybersecurity frameworks and government security requirements.

• Prior experience supporting state government, large enterprise, or other complex distributed network environments.
