Contract Details

  • Position Type: Contract
  • Contract Duration: 8 months
  • Pay Rate: $65.00 $67.00 / Hour (USD)
  • Shift / Schedule: Standard Monday Friday schedule. Primarily 5 8-hour days. Open to 4 10 schedule if needed. No routine overtime expected.
  • Travel Requirements: Occasional travel may be required for meetings or reviews, primarily between Fort St. Vrain and Denver. Travel expected to be minimal. No per diem. Mileage reimbursement may be available for occasional business travel.
  • Work Authorization: Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.

Job Summary

This role provides engineering support for capital project execution at the Fort St. Vrain power plant. Responsibilities include design reviews, maintaining design basis accountability, technical oversight for capital projects, supporting new combustion turbine projects (Units 7 & 8), reviewing technical questions, and ensuring engineering standards are met. This position is backfilling an engineer on extended paternity leave.

Key Responsibilities

  • Work on capital execution projects and perform design reviews
  • Provide technical feedback and support project scoping activities
  • Review P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams)
  • Collaborate with operations, project managers, and contractors on technical issues throughout project lifecycles
  • Maintain design basis accountability for capital projects
  • Provide technical oversight for capital projects
  • Support new combustion turbine projects (Units 7 & 8)
  • Review technical questions and ensure engineering standards are met
  • Interact with project managers/project personnel, operations management team, site crafts personnel, Major Projects team, and external partners including Jacobs, Burns & McDonnell, and QI/Quit-related project teams supporting Units 7 & 8
  • Function as an independent contributor responsible for driving engineering reviews and project support activities
  • No direct reports; may provide guidance and technical oversight on projects but will not formally manage personnel

Education Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required (Mechanical or Chemical Engineering preferred)

Required Experience

  • Approximately 5 years of relevant experience
  • Power plant, plant engineering, reliability engineering, or industrial facility experience

Nice-to-Have Experience

  • Former experience at the client organization viewed favorably
  • Experience across multiple generating facilities

Work Environment / Physical Requirements

  • Industrial power plant environment candidate will have field exposure
  • Required awareness of confined spaces and lockout/tagout procedures; other plant safety requirements apply
  • Candidate is not expected to enter confined spaces
  • Standard PPE required: hard hat, steel-toed boots, hearing protection, and eye protection
  • Collaborative environment requiring interaction with operations, project managers, and contractors, while also functioning as an independent contributor
  • Onsite role at Fort St. Vrain Power Plant, Platteville, Colorado
  • Non-local candidates willing to relocate at their own expense will be considered, provided relocation timing aligns with the urgent hiring need
