Overview

We are seeking a Mechanical Project Engineer to provide engineering support for capital project execution at a large power generation facility. This role will support project planning, design reviews, technical evaluations, and project execution activities for generation assets, including combustion turbine projects and plant infrastructure improvements.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in power generation or industrial facilities, experience reviewing engineering designs and P&IDs, and the ability to work collaboratively with operations, project managers, contractors, and plant personnel.

Responsibilities

  • Provide engineering support for capital projects from planning through execution and closeout
  • Perform technical design reviews and ensure adherence to engineering standards and design basis requirements
  • Review and evaluate Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), equipment specifications, and engineering documentation
  • Support combustion turbine and power generation projects by providing technical guidance and recommendations
  • Collaborate with operations personnel, project managers, contractors, and engineering teams to resolve technical issues
  • Participate in project scoping, engineering evaluations, and constructability reviews
  • Investigate equipment and system issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Monitor project quality, reliability, safety, and compliance requirements
  • Support project status updates, technical reviews, and stakeholder communications
  • Maintain engineering documentation and assist with technical risk assessments

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor s degree in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years of engineering experience in:
    • Power generation facilities
    • Combined-cycle power plants
    • Fossil generation plants
    • Industrial manufacturing or process facilities
  • Experience conducting engineering and technical design reviews
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, piping systems, valves, and equipment specifications
  • Experience reviewing P&IDs and technical drawings
  • Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Self-directed and capable of working independently

Preferred Qualifications

  • Combined-cycle generation experience
  • Combustion turbine project experience
  • Reliability engineering experience
  • Plant engineering or maintenance engineering background
  • Chemical Engineering background
  • Experience supporting capital project execution in utility or industrial environments
  • Previous experience supporting power generation facilities

Work Environment

  • Full-time onsite position at a power generation facility
  • Standard Monday Friday schedule
  • Option for a 4x10 schedule may be available
  • Field exposure within an industrial plant environment
  • PPE required, including hard hat, safety glasses, hearing protection, and steel-toe boots
  • Must be comfortable working around industrial equipment and operating facilities
