    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Performs electrical engineering tasks and services with guidance of a licensed engineer which includes the following:
    • *Performs site investigations and feasibility studies, and provides technical consultation and budget estimates in response to requests for alteration, new construction, and energy management of electrical power and lighting systems.
      • Performs load and lighting calculations and applies technical design skills, including drafting, to create working drawings & specifications for power and lighting systems.
    • Performs engineering service in the implementation of energy conservation measures. Performs energy audits of building system and operations and provides technical assistance in evaluation energy conservation measures.
      • Coordinates activities required to insure the smooth flow of electrical power and lighting systems projects . Assists with review of workorders, project designs and other disciplines
    • *Reviews system designs, specifications and material submittals of consultants and contractors for compliance with University standards.
    • *Provides technical assistance to trades personnel and other University staff for troubleshooting work, minor renovation projects and preventative maintenance program development.
    • *Performs periodic on-site inspection of electrical and related work to ensure conformance to the design and proper workmanship.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and 3 year(s) of Possession of a baccalaureate degree in Electrical Engineering or related field and 1 year of progressively responsible professional experience with responsibilities for Electrical Engineering; or any equivalent combination of education and/or professional work experience which provides the required education, knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated.
    • Functional knowledge of principles, practices and techniques in the area of Electrical Engineering demonstrated by knowledge, understanding and ability to apply concepts, terminology.
    • Functional knowledge and understanding of principles, theories, federal and state laws, rules, regulations and systems associated with Electrical Engineering.
    • Demonstrated ability to recognize problems, identify possible causes and resolve the full range problems that may commonly occur in the area of Electrical Engineering.
    • Demonstrated ability to understand oral and written documentation, write reports and procedures, and communicate effectively in a variety of situations.
    • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external organizations, groups, team members and individuals.
    • Demonstrated ability to operate a personal computer, apply word processing and spreadsheet software.
    • Ability to learn and utilize computer aided design (CAD).
