Engineer Quality I - Supplier Quality- #26-24291

Shift: 1st shift (7 am to 3:30 pm) – Overtime may be scheduled at end of shift
Description:
Major Purpose: This job fully integrates an individual into the engineering culture by performing specific quality engineering assignments that are limited in scope, depth, and degree of skill required. Work plans and decisions are usually reviewed by others.

• Carry out a range of activities under the guidance of more senior colleagues to support the analysis of information and the specification of the methods and process steps, as well as the plant, machinery, and equipment, required to design and continuously improve manufacturing or materials processes and process systems.
• Contribute to the development of, and implement feasibility testing of, proposed engineering solutions to provide feedback and data to validate the design.
• Carry out a range of activities under the guidance of more senior colleagues to support the drafting of engineering standards and specifications and the evaluation of the effectiveness of those standards.
• Carry out inspections under the supervision of senior colleagues to evaluate the quality of engineering works and/or the integrity of existing installations or structures, and make recommendations to senior colleagues on the remedial works needed to ensure conformance with specifications and regulatory requirements.
• Deliver required outcomes by coordinating activities of subcontractors and suppliers and acting as a primary point of contact for them while working within an established contract management plan.
• Identify shortcomings in existing processes, systems, and procedures, and use established change management programs to address them.
• Help others get the most out of knowledge management systems by offering support and advice.
• Carry out a range of product development and engineering activities. Use established systems to analyze customer needs and define and deliver products.
• Work within an established project management plan to achieve specific goals.
• Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an understanding of relevant technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.

Job Duties:

• Lead and facilitate quality solutions for urgent shop floor and customer issues, focusing on permanent corrective actions and preventing recurrences through implementing systemic corrective actions.
• Perform quality planning primarily focused on fluid conveyance but could also include hydraulics, metal fab, or fasteners.
• The quality planning can include current products, supplier change request, cost reduction, resourcing, and temporary sourcing.
• Execute Design Process and Assembly Reviews (DPARs), print reviews, and design reviews of new/current products.
• Use Six Sigma and other quality tools including Statistical Analysis, Failure Modes & Effects Analysis, and 8D methodology to ensure the identification of quality failure concerns for externally manufactured parts and assemblies.
• Lead supplier Quality Improvement Teams.

Job Requirements:

• Functional knowledge/experience in project management; including effectively facilitating, leading, and managing cross-functional teams.
• Experience with standard quality management principles and tools (such as FMEA, SPC, Root Cause, Control Plans, Gage R&R, MSA and Capability Studies).
• Experience reading and interpreting complex part drawings, including functional knowledge of GD&T.
• Experience in advanced data gathering and analysis techniques, including statistical analysis.
• Previous experience in Supplier Quality Engineering and/or Quality Engineering.
• Demonstrate a high level of self-motivation and initiative.

Key Skills & Experience Required:

• Degree in Technology, Engineering, Communications, Business, Computer Science, and/or Data Analytics.
• Manager is open to recent grad candidates.

• Great communication.
• Willingness to learn.

Work Details:

• Onsite only (no remote).
• Business casual dress code.
• Interview preference: Teams/In person.
• Will need metatarsal safety boots for first day.
• This position requires some time on the shop floor, so candidates should be comfortable working in that environment.

Other Notes:

• Visa sponsorship is not available, now or in the future, for this position.
• Fully onsite; candidate must be comfortable with factory environment and occasional intra-facility travel.

Regarding Driving: This position may drive a company-owned Gator inside the factory to get from the office area to a different office area in another part of the factory (all connected and indoors). Worker will need to successfully complete safety training to be approved to drive this. They will transport their computer or parts/tools. Other workers could ride along if they are going to the same areas due to limited number of available Gators. This would not be driven outside. May also drive their personal vehicle to other facilities within a 20 mile radius. Rental cars are not used for this travel.
