Position Overview The Engineer Tool 2 will design and develop industrial tools, dies, gauges, drill & assembly jigs, fixtures, machine attachments, and equipment for both production and experimental use. This role requires collaboration with manufacturing operations, vendors, and cross-functional engineering teams to ensure tooling meets quality, cost, schedule, and safety requirements. The candidate will work autonomously and in teams, contributing innovative methods to improve processes and designs.

Key Responsibilities • Develop tooling concepts and support equipment for new and existing programs. • Design tooling and equipment, including engineering drawings, inspection requirements, and verification plans. • Collaborate with Tool Designers to finalize drawings and review for manufacturability, fit, form, and function. • Manage tooling projects, including cost, schedule, procurement, and fabrication. • Interface with internal customers and design review teams to ensure requirements are met. • Support vendors during fabrication and inspect fabricated tooling for drawing compliance. • Collaborate with manufacturing operations and process engineering to support program quality delivery and cost objectives. • Support continuous improvement initiatives and proactive problem-solving. • Design safe and efficient tooling layouts and manufacturing processes. • Identify and mitigate safety risks in accordance with company and strategic government standards. • Support investigations related to root cause analysis, non-conformances, and process failures.

Basic Qualifications • Bachelor of Science in a STEM discipline. • Experience with industry standard design tools, including NX CAD and CATIA. • Knowledge of manufacturing fabrication processes and machine shop practices. • Experience with drawing release criteria, including completeness, clarity, dimensional accuracy, correctness of materials, processes, conformity to standards, GD&T, and practicality. • Knowledge and application of GD&T ASME Y14.5-2018 and weld symbols. • Strong verbal and written communication skills. • Strong organizational and project management skills. • Technical attention to detail. • U.S. Citizen with ability to obtain and maintain DoD SECRET security clearance and special program access.

Preferred Qualifications • Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment. • Experience in engineering design and fabrication of special tooling and support equipment. • Ability to evaluate vendor capabilities for tooling and aerospace part production. • Experience in development projects, establishing tooling SOWs and design estimates. • Experience with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems. • Experience with stress analysis and finite element analysis (FEA). • Professional Engineering License. • Current active DoD Secret clearance investigation, periodic review within the last 5 years.
