Position Summary: TheTransmission Line Engineer III is a mid-to-senior level engineering role responsible for the design, analysis, and execution of overhead transmission line projects. This position plays a key role in delivering high-quality engineering solutions across a range of voltages and project types, including utility, renewable energy, and data center infrastructure.
The ideal candidate is technically strong, adaptable, and eager to expand theirexpertiseacross the full lifecycle of transmission line design. This role will initially focus on hands-on engineering and project execution, with a clear growth path intoboth technicalexpertiseand engineeringleadershipwithengineering managementresponsibilities, including mentoring junior engineers and contributing to team development and project management.
Key Responsibilities:
Perform detailed design and analysis of overhead transmission lines ranging from 12.4kV to 345kV (higher voltage experience up to 500kV or 765kV is desirable)
Candidate shall be proficient in transmission line design to develop complete transmission line design packages, including:
Plan and Profile Drawings
Structure Framing Drawings
Load and Design Drawings
Insulator Details
Grounding Details
Guying and Anchor Design
Foundation Design and Drawings
Sag and Tension Tables
Bill of Materials (BOM)
Technical Specifications
Utilize industry-standard software such as PLS-CADD and PLS-Pole for modeling and design; apply PLS-Tower where applicable
Perform or support transmission line foundation design using tools such as MFAD, HFAD, or TFAD
Collaborate with project managers, clients, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure project success
Support project execution, including schedule adherence, quality control, and client deliverables
Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers
Continuously learn and apply evolving engineering standards, tools, and best practices
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field
Active Professional Engineer (PE) licenserequired
58 years of relevant transmission line design experience
Proficiencyin:
PLS-CADD and PLS-Pole (required)
PLS-Tower (preferred)
FAD-Tools (MFAD, HFAD, TFAD) for foundation design (preferred)
Proficient inMicrosoft Excel and Office Suite.Experience with Excel macros is preferred.
Experience designing across a range of voltages from 12.4kV through 345kV
Experience with higher voltages (500kV or 765kV) is a plus
Experience supporting renewable energy and/or data center transmission projects is desirable
Strong understanding of transmission line engineering principles, codes, and standards
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt in a fast-paced environment
Strong communicationand collaboration skills
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit for extended periods while working on a computer and performing design tasks
Ability to occasionally stand, walk, and move about office or project sites
Ability to travel occasionally to project sites, client meetings, or field reviews
Ability to conduct site visits, which may include walking on uneven terrain, climbing small elevations, and exposure to outdoor weather conditions
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds (e.g., field equipment, plans, or materials)
Visual acuity sufficient to review detailed engineering drawings, models, and calculations

FLSA Status: Exempt
Pay Range: $135,000-150,000 Annually
Reports to:Manager, Transmission Line Design
Work Location: TheWoodlands, TX or Remote iflocatedoutside of the Houston area
