Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is seeking an Associate Payloads Design Engineer to join the Interiors Responsibility Center South Carolina (IRCSC) team in North Charleston, SC.
In this role, you will support the design and integration of aircraft interior payload systems including components such as light-limiting headers, closets, partitions, stowage bins, and associated wiring systems. The position supports the full product lifecycle, including configuration development, manufacturing support, verification and validation of design requirements, and certification activities.
You will collaborate across engineering, manufacturing, and supplier teams to help deliver high-quality interior systems for commercial aircraft.
Assist in developing, integrating, and documenting structural and interior payload system requirements to establish system designs.
Support testing and analysis activities to validate and verify system components meet requirements and specifications.
Coordinate with suppliers to monitor performance, support testing activities, and optimize design solutions.
Provide engineering support to the production floor during first-of or complex builds.
Assist in developing new design and analysis processes to improve engineering efficiency and quality.
Support research and evaluation of emerging technologies for future aircraft interior designs.
Develop, maintain, and modify payload system and component designs using 3D CAD tools and other engineering methods.
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited program.
2+ years of relevant engineering experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
2+ years of experience with 3D modeling tools, such as:
CATIA
SOLIDWORKS
Autodesk Inventor
Pro-E
SketchUp
3DX or similar CAD platforms
Experience working in cross-functional engineering and production teams.
Experience in aerospace engineering and engineering release processes.
Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking skills.
Familiarity with FAA Title 14 Part 25 regulations or EASA equivalent.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
Ability to meet program schedules and deliverables.
