Equipment & Tool Engineer

Location: New Orleans, LA (Onsite – Building 66-102)
Pay Rate: $45/hr
Schedule:

  • Full-time | 1st Shift
  • 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM
  • Onsite

Duration: 12 Months (possible extension)


Overview:

We are seeking an Equipment & Tool Engineer to support production systems in New Orleans. This role involves developing equipment and tooling concepts, ensuring safety and compliance, and providing technical support for production operations. The engineer will collaborate across teams to validate requirements, maintain configuration control, and support readiness activities.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate program and project requirements to develop equipment and tooling solutions.

  • Compile and analyze technical data to determine effects on product design and production rates.

  • Ensure compliance with safety, producibility, maintainability, reliability, ergonomic, and regulatory requirements.

  • Validate performance milestones and maintain configuration control of equipment and tooling.

  • Prepare plans for production readiness, preventive maintenance, and spares.

  • Develop and implement work-arounds for moderately complex engineering issues.

  • Maintain configuration of hardware, software, and documentation.

  • Provide training for production and maintenance personnel.

  • Support studies for asset disposition.


Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in tool engineering or design engineering.

  • Proficiency in creating and interpreting tooling drawings.

  • Experience modeling in a 3D environment.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with CATIA and Creo software.


Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Chemistry + 2+ years of related work experience, OR

  • Master's degree in a relevant field, OR

  • Equivalent combination of technical education and industry experience (e.g., PhD, or 9+ years of relevant experience in lieu of degree).

  • ABET accreditation preferred but not required.


Additional Details:

  • Work Location: Onsite, New Orleans, LA

  • Shift: First shift, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM.

  • Schedule: Standard full-time; not a 9x80 schedule.

  • Overtime: May be required based on workload.

  • Travel: Not required.

  • Clearance: Not required; NASA compliance screening completed post-start.

  • Safety Sensitive: Yes – subject to NASA compliance.
