8th Avenue Food & Provisions is a growing organization made up of businesses that produce and sell quality products including peanut butter, granola, and fruit and nut trail mixes to retail, foodservice and ingredient customers. The company was formed in October 2018 through a combination of Post Holdings’ private brands businesses and is owned by Post Holdings and funds affiliated with Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P. (“THL”), a private equity firm.

Location Description:

The Fitzgerald, Georgia plant is a significant contributor to the U.S. peanut supply, producing approximately 50% of the nation’s peanuts and 108 million pounds of peanut butter annually. The site employs approximately 250 employees and plays an important role in both the local economy and the broader food supply chain.

The city is famously home to wild chickens that freely roam the downtown area- so much so that the town hosts an annual Wild Chicken Festival in their honor. Responsibilities:

About the Role 

As an Engineering & Maintenance Manager, you’ll lead both the maintenance and electrical functions at one of our manufacturing facilities—playing a critical role in keeping our operations running safely, efficiently, and reliably. This role is responsible for preventive maintenance strategy, technical skill development, maintenance planning, and parts and inventory leadership, all with the goal of minimizing unplanned downtime and delivering expected production results.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Develop, document, and lead execution of a comprehensive preventive maintenance program across production, packaging, warehouse, and facility assets to reduce unplanned downtime 

  • Partner with operations and department leaders to understand daily and weekly maintenance needs, delivering timely and cost‑effective solutions 

  • Lead, coach, and develop front‑line maintenance talent by assessing technical capabilities and creating individualized development plans 

  • Provide clear role expectations and leadership that promotes ownership, accountability, and maximum equipment uptime 

  • Oversee MRO inventory strategy to ensure parts, tools, and supplies are available to support daily operations and preventive maintenance plans 

  • Own and manage the maintenance department budget, including labor, utilities, building maintenance, and operational maintenance expenses 

  • Lead capital and productivity projects that support cost savings and operational efficiency 

  • Support and reinforce safety, quality, and productivity programs to ensure compliance and continuous improvement

Qualifications:

Required Education and Experience Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED with 7+ years of plant maintenance experience OR Bachelor’s degree in Science with 5+ years of plant maintenance experience 

  • 5+ years of maintenance leadership experience 

  • Experience developing and managing departmental budgets 

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) 

  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and extended hours as operational needs require 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline 

  • Experience in food or beverage manufacturing environments 

  • Background implementing behavior‑based safety programs 

  • Strong communication, organizational, and strategic planning skills with high attention to detail
