Engineering Assistant
Location: Portland, OR / 100% Remote

We are seeking an Engineering Assistant to support piping engineering and design teams on complex technical projects. This position will provide engineering administrative, document control, scheduling, and coordination support across multiple projects.
The ideal candidate has experience supporting engineering or project delivery teams and is highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable coordinating technical information, deliverables, and schedules in a remote environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain piping design deliverable schedules and track issuance milestones.
- Track design reviews, approvals, sign-offs, and design changes.
- Review design package checklists to ensure completeness prior to submission.
- Track piping deliverables, including models, drawings, calculations, schedules, and support-related documentation.
- Maintain revision control of discipline tools, equipment lists, calculations, schedules, and other engineering information.
- Coordinate with project document control teams for design package submissions and supporting documentation.
- Support issuance planning for deliverables, including IFR, IFC, and other project milestones.
- Maintain progress tracking tools, logs, schedules, and reporting dashboards.
- Assist with onboarding and offboarding engineering and design personnel.
- Coordinate information flow between piping, other engineering disciplines, project management, and document control teams.
- Take and distribute meeting notes for discipline and project meetings.
- Communicate project priorities, deliverable status, schedule concerns, and key updates to appropriate team members.
- Identify opportunities to improve coordination, streamline processes, and minimize schedule impacts.
- Collaborate with project teams, clients, and internal stakeholders to support timely project execution.
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of experience supporting engineering, project delivery, or document control environments.
- 2-year technical degree or 4-year non-technical degree.
- Experience with engineering document control processes and standards.
- Understanding of engineering workflows and information exchange between disciplines.
- Familiarity with project schedules, deliverable requirements, and design package coordination.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage data and multiple priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and OneNote.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately track assigned tasks through completion.
- Ability to work effectively with engineering, design, project management, and document control teams in a remote environment.
- Strong listening, communication, and presentation skills.
