Job Title: Engineering Cell TechnicianJob Description

The Engineering Cell Technician supports the assembly, testing, and quality control of solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) systems in a hands-on, production-focused role. This position plays a key part in early-stage manufacturing and scale-up efforts for advanced energy products, working closely with engineering, quality, and operations teams. The role is well-suited for individuals with experience in manufacturing, electrochemical systems, or precision assembly who thrive in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble fuel cell components and sub-assemblies in accordance with engineering documentation, work instructions, and established quality standards.
  • Perform cell fabrication processes, including coating, stacking, loading, sealing, and alignment of solid oxide fuel cell components.
  • Operate and monitor manufacturing equipment and test stations to support production and testing activities.
  • Conduct functional testing, inspection, and data collection for fuel cells and related components to verify performance and quality.
  • Record production and test data accurately in manufacturing execution systems (MES) or batch travelers to ensure traceability and documentation integrity.
  • Identify process issues, defects, and equipment malfunctions, and assist with root-cause analysis to support problem resolution.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on yield improvement and process optimization in early-stage manufacturing operations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers, quality professionals, and operations staff to meet production goals and ensure consistent product quality.

Essential Skills

  • Associate"s degree in a technical field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in manufacturing, electronics, systems, or laboratory production environments.
  • Hands-on experience with testing and quality control in a production or lab setting.
  • Proficiency in using measurement and test tools such as calipers, multimeters, and gauges.
  • Experience working with fuel cells, batteries, ceramics, or high-temperature systems.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing and laboratory production processes, including precision assembly and equipment operation.
  • Basic understanding of quality systems, including ISO frameworks, statistical process control (SPC), and root-cause analysis methodologies.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in early-stage manufacturing operations or process scale-up environments.
  • Comfort working in cleanroom, laboratory, or pilot production settings.
  • Ability to follow detailed engineering documentation and work instructions with high attention to detail.
  • Strong data recording and documentation skills within MES or similar production tracking systems.
  • Ability to identify and communicate process issues and contribute to continuous improvement efforts.
  • Strong collaboration skills for working effectively with engineering, quality, and operations teams.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing and laboratory production setting that supports advanced energy product development. The position offers first and second shift openings, including Monday-Friday from 4:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Thursday-Sunday from 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The work involves exposure to industrial equipment and high-temperature testing environments, with appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) required as needed. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and organization in line with EHS standards and may require occasional overtime during production ramps to meet manufacturing and scale-up demands.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $47840.00 - $47840.00/yr.
