Position Summary
The Engineering Change Specialist (ECS) is responsible for managing the Engineering Change Request/Order (ECR/ECO) process within the Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) system. This role supports documentation control, change implementation, and continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced engineering environment. In addition to generating and processing change orders, the ECS will manage data mining, track reports, coordinate cross-functional communications, and serve as the point of contact for change-related escalations.
Key Responsibilities
  • Generate, process, and manage Change Orders (COs) through closure.
  • Perform documentation research for parts and assemblies to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with change control policies and design standards.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) Program Managers with all change order activities.
  • Collaborate with engineers and designers to integrate design solutions into Bills of Material (BOMs) that align with lean manufacturing requirements.
  • Coordinate with key stakeholders to drive resolution and alignment with cut-in strategies, E&O mitigation, and effectivity timelines.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for change control processes within Engineering.
  • Monitor and prioritize tasks to ensure timely and efficient change cut-ins.
  • Process part numbers, BOMs, and COs—including preparation for Change Control Board (CCB) reviews, routing for approvals, and ensuring accuracy and completeness.
  • Track documentation progress from initiation to final approval; report review status and key metrics.
  • Maintain documentation in compliance with ISO standards, including revisions and releases.
  • Update drawings based on model changes and support design teams with drawing/spec updates.
  • Facilitate design review meetings, record key decisions and action items, and distribute detailed meeting minutes.

Requirements
  • Strong understanding of change management and configuration management practices.
  • Proven ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and follow-through.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to multitask and manage competing priorities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work required overtime to support manufacturing and customer needs.
  • Experience resolving scheduling conflicts and last-minute changes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel – Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP, Graphing; Teams; PowerPoint; Word).
  • Experience with iPLM/SAP (preferred).
  • Experience with Teamcenter and Siemens NX (preferred).
  • Self-motivated, team-oriented, and committed to continuous improvement.
