Engineering Intern

Position Summary

Interns are provided with a hands-on technical experience working with engineering teams in a cutting-edge environment. Students are directed and mentored by experienced engineers and are responsible for assisting with projects and daily departmental/team activities. This is a part-time position (15-30 hours, depending on class schedule).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Assist with technical and/or administrative tasks depending on functional area.
• Assist with special projects.
• Performing other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

• Current student enrolled full-time in an ABET accredited Engineering program (Electrical, Mechanical, Software, IT or closely related major) at a four-year institution
• Minimum 3.0 cumulative grade point average
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint) and other computer software
• Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner as well as skillfully gather and analyze information
• Speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situations, demonstrate group presentation skills
• Willingness to explore ways to improve and promote quality; demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness; and maintain compliance with legal and regulatory aspects
• Observe safety and security procedures, and uses equipment and materials properly.
• Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced office setting
• Preferred Qualifications:  experience or completed coursework in at least two of these areas:  radio frequency design, antenna design, electro-magnetics, robotics, Matlab/octave, SolidWorks, other CAD/CAM, rapid prototyping, 3D printing, mechanical design, structural analysis, cyber security
