COOP opportunity available if enrolled in a school with a Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technician COOP program.

Join the dynamic team in the Chatham County Engineering Department! We currently have a temporary position available for an Engineering Intern or COOP student with experience or a keen interest in transportation projects. If youre enrolled in a Civil Engineering program, seize this opportunity to work alongside Professional Engineers, and develop valuable skills in a supportive environment. Examples of Duties

Under the direction of Professional Engineers, you will

• Assist with developing project scope and delivering transportation capital projects.
• Perform tasks to support engineering analysis, report production, and designs.
• Develop, evaluate, and design specifications and contract drawings.
• Assist project managers with all aspects of civil engineering.
• Prepare basic calculations and collect, organize, and evaluate data using your engineering knowledge.
• Interact with department staff and the public using your communication and customer service skills.
• Utilize analytical and organizational skills in performing your duties.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Current college or university enrollment in a Civil Engineering program with an emphasis in Transportation, Environmental, or Hydrology; or
• Any equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience or interest in Transportation Engineering projects.

During emergencies and disasters affecting Chatham County, you may be required to report to work as part of a disaster operations team.

In accordance with the Department of Transportation, Commercial Drivers License (CDL) holders and those employed in safety-sensitive positions are subject to random drug testing.

Candidates with direct and relevant experience may receive an offer of up to 10% above the minimum salary that is posted, reflecting their exceptional qualifications.
