DESCRIPTION
The City of Napas Utilities Department is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Engineering Intern (Extra Help) to join the Utilities team! In this role, you will have the opportunity to work closely with professional engineers and assist with various field and office tasks related to civil engineering and utilities systems. If you are looking to gain work experience in a municipal engineering environment, particularly with water distribution systems, APPLY TODAY!
Qualified applicants will have a proven record of demonstrating the competencies:
Typical hours are 7:00AM to 4:30PM Monday through Friday, with every other Friday off. Depending on operational needs, the duration of this assignment is expected to be 2-3 months, with the potential for up to 6 months.
This is an Extra Help position that is not to exceed 1,000 hours in a fiscal year (07/01/2026 - 06/30/2027). Extra Help and Part-Time employees are at-will and not covered by the Civil Service System. Some benefits for Extra Help and Part-Time employees include sick leave, temporary employee retirement plan, and 3.5% bilingual pay if applicable.

Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience: None.
Education: None. Knowledge of engineering, drafting, geometry and/or trigonometry preferred.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of a valid Class "C" California Driver's License at the time of appointment.
Must be at least 18 years of age at time of application.
