Job Summary
Responsible for assisting engineering staff in day to day tasks in platting, development, drainage, traffic and utilities work. Incumbent will be expected to perform a variety of office and field work necessary in supporting projects and activities as assigned.
Essential Functions
Collects and processes field data using Public Works GPS equipment and available in-office software.
Helps with updating ordinances and right of way permitting as needed.
Manages tasks and projects as assigned.
Addresses inconsistencies in data sets and brings them to the attention of senior staff.
Performs other duties as requested by Public Works staff.
Assists with onsite drainage calls and field inspections as required.
Performs related duties as directed when such duties are a logical and appropriate assignment to the position.
Regular and timely attendance in the office are required for this position.
Interacts professionally and respectfully with the public, coworkers and others in the course of daily work.
Required Skills
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Must be pursuing an Associates or Bachelors degree in Engineering or related field.
Current transcripts are required with application.
This position requires general knowledge of computers, the Windows operating system, networking, and Windows Office products.
Must pass a Federal/National criminal background check. Must have a valid Texas drivers license with an acceptable driving record as defined by City policy.
Must pass a pre-employment drug screen.
WORKING CONDITIONS
While performing the essential functions of this position, there will be routine and frequent exposure to:
Safety equipment such as gloves, goggles, hard hats, safety vests, steel-toe boots, back support belts, and seat belts are provided and must be worn as required by department procedures and good safety practices.
