The Engineering Intern is an integral part of our Engineering team based out of our US - Willow Island, WV site.

Internship Summary

The Engineering Intern will be responsible for working closely with the Engineering, EHS, and Maintenance Departments providing support throughout their day. Specifically, they will work alongside Project, Process, Safety, and Maintenance Engineers to complete a list of daily work duties as noted below. The Intern will report to the plants Engineering Manager for direction and guidance and will work directly with department designees for more specific direction as needed. Other opportunities and projects may arise for the intern to contribute technical expertise.

Internship Job Duties by Department

Engineering Dept:

  • Assist with all aspects of Capital Project development: conception, design, budgeting, approval, contractor management, construction management, start-up and project closing. (Potential Quality Dept. Assistance)
  • Assist site Automation Engineer as troubleshooting opportunities arise.
  • Documentation development and archiving

Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Dept.:

  • Assist the dept. with improvement of Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) documentation (update formatting, add photos and complete walkdowns to verify completeness)
  • Improve Asbestos labeling
  • Conduct toolbox safety meetings

Maintenance Dept.:

  • Provide support with Motor Control Center (MCC) and Variable Frequency Drive documentation, labeling, and tracing.
  • Provide maintenance & maintenance contractor support.
  • Assist site Reliability Engineer with day-to-day documentation and work activities.

Additional opportunities and projects may arise for the position to become involved.

Internship Qualifications

  • Must be currently pursuing a bachelors degree in an Engineering discipline (Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical preferred), and a rising Sophomore, Junior, or Senior.
  • GPA of 2.75 or higher is preferred.
  • Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • AutoCAD is preferred.
  • Independent worker/self-starter.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
  • At least 18 years of age and authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Successfully pass a background check and drug screen.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, problem solving, and analytical skills.
