The Engineering Intern will support the design and development of mechanical components and assemblies by assisting with model drawings, documentation, and testing activities. This role works closely with experienced engineers and cross-functional teams to update existing designs, evaluate design changes, and contribute to practical engineering solutions. The position provides hands-on exposure to real-world engineering processes, manufacturing considerations, and collaborative product development in a professional engineering environment with potential to work in mechanical, electrical and/or packaging areas to support projects with the larger engineering/R&D team.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

+ Assemble drawing packages for suppliers and change notices + Create and edit 3D models and assemblies using SolidWorks under the guidance of senior engineers. + Develop and revise detail drawings, bills of materials (BOMs), and basic specifications. + Assist with updating and maintaining existing production designs and engineering drawings. + Support the development and execution of test plans to validate new or modified designs. + Help prepare engineering change documentation, process documentation, and technical reports. + Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including manufacturing, sales, product management, suppliers, and end users. + Assist in analyzing customer requirements, test data, and field feedback to support design improvements. + Research alternative materials, components, manufacturing methods, and design concepts. + Respond to internal technical questions and assist in troubleshooting design-related issues. + Support the creation of technical documentation such as manuals, bulletins, and work instructions. + Contribute creative and practical ideas to solve engineering problems in a team environment. + Perform other duties as assigned to support the engineering team. + All other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND REQUIRED ABILITIES

+ Coursework or hands-on experience with 3D CAD modeling, preferably SolidWorks. + Basic understanding of engineering drawings, component fits, tolerances, and GD&T. + Exposure to or interest in machined parts, castings, weldments, sheet metal, and fabricated assemblies. + Ability to translate conceptual ideas into buildable models and drawings with guidance. + Familiarity with developing or reviewing bills of materials for assemblies is a plus. + General technical curiosity and willingness to learn about mechanical systems such as pumps, gearboxes, bearings, or rotating equipment. + Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and written and verbal communication abilities. + Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced, collaborative, cross‑functional environment. + Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint). + Exposure to ERP systems (such as JD Edwards) is helpful but not required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

+ Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. + Junior, senior, or recent graduate status preferred; motivated underclassmen with relevant coursework will be considered. + Relevant coursework may include (but is not limited to): + Engineering Graphics / CAD + Machine Design + Manufacturing Processes + Mechanical Systems or Fluid Mechanics
