If you have a strong aptitude and passion for problem solving and data analysis and want to be involved in ensuring the safe, reliable operation of our refinery production units then we have the job for you! You will play a key role in supporting the refinery's environmental compliance programs. 

We are currently recruiting for a variety engineering disciplines to join our engineering teams at the Suncor Energy Inc. (U.S.A.) Commerce City Refinery. Internship runs from May 2027 - August 2027 (approximate).

Compensation Range: Salary Band: $23-28/hr. The pay band is typically determined by the candidate's years of experience

Minimum requirements: 

• Current enrollment in an undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemical and Biochemical Engineering or Environmental Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Materials and Metallurgical Engineering

• You must be returning to full-time studies after the work term

Responsibilities (will vary based on assigned role): 

• Learn the general set up of the Commerce City Refinery and its units
• Collaborate with a cross functional team of engineers, maintenance professionals, and refinery operators
• Participate in site safety training and contribute to safety culture
• Provide immediate support as needed for engineering initiatives and projects

• Develop an understanding of refinery environmental systems, applicable regulations, and environmental management practices. 
• Participate in regular team meetings
• Support the development of capital projects in producing well-rounded solutions, which may include field work, observation, project research, data analysis, and preliminary design calculations

• Prepare weekly status reports on project progress

• Take personal responsibility for quality of tasks performed
• Each student selected will be working on a specific project and will give a presentation to senior leadership on their project at the end of the summer

Location and other key details: 

• You will work out of our Commerce City refinery, located at 5801 Brighton Blvd.
• Must be legally authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.A.
