Overview:

Manages a team of engineers, designers, and drafters/detailers working across multiple industries including Telecom, Utilities, Oil & Gas, Semiconductor, Retail, Technology, and others. Responsible for setting technical direction, managing deliverables, defining engineering processes and achieving revenue and expense objectives. Resolves customer problems and contributes to customer satisfaction. Represents assigned areas to sales leadership and company management, while building strong relationships with clients and internal partners. Grows and develops engineering talent while ensuring delivery excellence.

Responsibilities:

Engineering Leadership & Execution

  • Designs, implements, and refines product development, testing, and manufacturing processes
  • Leads teams in the development of new products, solutions, and engineering processes
  • Oversees the design, development, and implementation of engineering projects
  • Reviews and approves project designs and technical deliverables
  • Maintains a high level of expertise within their engineering discipline or industry sector
  • Ensures engineering processes meet quality, safety, and regulatory compliance guidelines
  • Identifies, tracks, and mitigates technical and project risks
  • Maintains up‑to‑date knowledge of technology advancements and industry trends


People Management & Team Development

  • Directs and supervises engineers, technicians, and support staff
  • Manages staff and assigns tasks to engineering and technical personnel
  • Sets clear objectives and deliverables aligned with company and client goals
  • Recruits, trains, mentors, and develops team members
  • Conducts performance evaluations and provides timely, actionable feedback
  • Advocates on behalf of team members by securing adequate resources for success

 

Project, Resource & Financial Management

  • Oversees project logistics, staffing plans, and resource allocation
  • Secures the resources needed for teams to excel, including researching and proposing capital investments
  • Helps create and manage project and departmental budgets
  • Engages in cost management strategies to meet financial targets
  • Performs administrative functions such as reviewing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing policies, and making purchasing decisions

Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement

  • Strives to improve efficiency, sustainability, and scalability of engineering processes and product designs
  • Reduces waste and drives continuous improvement initiatives across projects and teams
  • Collaborates with other team leaders and departments to ensure smooth project execution

Client, Partner & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Communicates complex technical information to non‑technical stakeholders, including clients, investors, and potential customers
  • Forges and maintains strong relationships with suppliers and customers
  • Attends trade shows, conferences, and supplier site visits as required
  • Represents engineering capabilities internally and externally in support of business development and delivery efforts
Qualifications:

Education, Experience & Qualifications

  • 10+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or related field (Professional Engineer preferred)
  • Demonstrated experience managing engineering teams and complex projects
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Ability to operate effectively across technical, business, and client‑facing environments
  • Willingness to travel up to 25%
