About the Role If youre the kind of engineering leader whod rather ship than spectate, this ones for you. Youll lead a team building core product and platform capabilities for over 100 million creators - shaping system design, driving execution, and partnering with product, design, and data science to deliver experiences people actually love. This is a hands-on leadership role: youll set technical direction, grow your team, and keep things moving in a fast-paced, music-obsessed environment.

What Youll Do

• Own the technical direction for your teams domain, driving architecture decisions and ensuring scalable, high-quality systems that serve millions of creators.
• Build, coach, and grow a team of engineers - hiring strong talent, running effective performance cycles, and creating a culture where people do their best work.
• Partner with product management, design, and data science to define roadmaps, scope projects, and ship features that move the needle.
• Navigate the full development lifecycle from ideation through launch, managing tradeoffs and removing blockers so your team stays focused and shipping.
• Champion engineering craft across your team - code quality, robust testing, and the right balance of rapid iteration with long-term maintainability.
• Contribute to Sunos mission of making creative fulfillment a daily reality for everyone by delivering the tools and platform that turn imagination into music.

What Youll Need Must-Haves

• 5-7 years managing a software engineering team, with a track record of shipping impactful consumer products.
• Strong technical foundation - you can review code, guide architectural decisions, and jump into the codebase when needed.
• Experience translating ambiguous problems into clear plans and shipped features alongside product, design, and data science partners.
• A demonstrated ability to hire, develop, and retain strong engineers - you care deeply about growing peoples careers.
• Hands-on experience building and operating systems at scale in a production environment.
• Comfort thriving in fast-paced, ambiguous environments while keeping your team focused across multiple priorities.
• Forward-looking perspective on integrating AI and agentic coding into production engineering workflows.
• A love of music (listening, exploring, making - were not picky about genre).

Nice-to-Haves

• Experience at a consumer tech or creator-platform company.
• Time spent at both larger organizations and smaller, high-growth startups.
• Familiarity with AI/ML-powered product development.
• Working knowledge of Python, TypeScript, consumer media systems, or real-time systems.

• This is an in-person role based in Sunos NYC OR Cambridge office.
