Engineering Manager - GenAI, AI & Data Platforms (AiDP)

AI & Data Platforms (AiDP) is IS&Ts engine for AI-powered innovation. The team brings together data, application development, and machine learning - including generative AI - along with data services and customer success functions, to help IS&T build solutions more efficiently and streamline the adoption and embedding of generative AI across Apple. As an Engineering Manager on the Applied Machine Learning team, you will lead a team of software engineers building tools and platforms at scale that power Apples enterprise GenAI efforts. Youll be responsible for the technical execution and delivery of a GenAI platform with distributed compute, storage, ingestion, and inference. Youll be working with a team of software engineers and machine learning engineers to build RAG and Agentic platform components. In this role, you will lead and mentor forward-thinking engineers and will own related activities and interactions with teams across Apple. You will work cross-functionally with key internal partners, researchers, product teams, and platform engineers to develop and deliver our products.Actively manage the performance of the team reporting to you and take responsibility for driving its outcome. Build scalable GenAI platforms and applications. Ensure products meet Apples standards for performance, reliability, scalability, privacy, and user experience Guide development of APIs and frameworks for agentic workflows and/or complex multi-step ML systems Collaborate optimally with partner/product teams to set the goals, expectations, and roadmaps for their teams. Communicate technical details and roadmaps for diverse audiences including engineering partners, product management teams, and executives across Apple.10+ years of experience working on distributed systems 6+ years of experience in a management or leadership role Deep understanding of GenAI fundamentals Deep understanding of Java, C, C++, or similar programming language Deep understanding of distributed systems like Flink, Spark, NoSQL, etc. Bachelors degree in Computer Science or equivalent.Track record of leading teams and delivering complex AI projects from conception to production Strong communication skills Understanding of LLM inference and deployment Understanding of RAG and Agentic systems Past experience leading a scalable platform team
